Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP said Jan. 14 that Gerald (Jerry) P. Farano has joined as a partner to continue his energy transactions practice in the law firm’s Denver office.

Before joining Gibson Dunn, Farano was a partner at Jones Day in its D.C. office. He was also previously a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP.

Farano has extensive experience with energy-related M&A in the power sector, particularly in the purchase and sale of renewable, fossil fuel and nuclear generation assets, according to the firm’s press release.

His energy transactions practice focuses on complex transactional matters in the energy industry, including domestic and international M&A, joint ventures, strategic alliances, financings and energy and infrastructure development projects. He also advises clients on significant electric transmission and other energy infrastructure projects.

“Jerry is a terrific addition to the firm,” Ken Doran, chairman and managing partner of Gibson Dunn, said in a statement. “His deep experience guiding strategic and financial clients through complex, high-value energy transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, fits well with our thriving Energy & Infrastructure Group domestically and internationally, while further enhancing our regional service for clients in the Rocky Mountain West.”

Beau Stark, partner in charge of the Denver office, added in a statement: “Jerry is an accomplished transactional lawyer whose knowledge of the power energy space will further fuel our rapidly expanding market position. Throughout his career, Jerry has earned the respect of clients, counsel and senior leaders across the energy industry, and we’re very pleased that he’s chosen to continue his practice with us in Denver.”
