1 According to IHS Inc., Rubicon Oil & Gas LLC of Midland has extended Rock Tank Field, a Pennsylvanian gas reservoir in southwestern Eddy County, N.M. Gas flowed from the #1 Dark Canyon 19 Federal well at the daily rate of 2.64 million cu. ft., with 815 bbl. of water. The Delaware Basin well was tested through commingled acid- and fracture-treated perforations at 10,146-56 ft. in Upper Morrow; 10,252-10,404 ft. in Middle Morrow; 10,543-52 ft. in Lower Morrow; and 10,751-54 ft. in “Silty” Barnett. Flowing tubing pressure was 685 psi on a 32/64-in. choke. The well was directionally drilled to 10,850 ft. in Section 24-23s-24e. Log tops include the Atoka at 9,858 ft. and Morrow at 10,140 ft.

2 In West Texas, an Exco Resources Inc. wildcat was tested on pump for 41.7 bbl of oil per day, with 30,000 cu. ft. of gas and 26 bbl. of water through acid- and fracture-treated perforations in Wolfcamp at 5,234-5,432 ft. The Dallas-based independent’s well is in southern Sterling County (RRC Dist. 8), almost 20 miles south of the town of Sterling City. The #1 PNR Harris Heirs 88 vertical discovery was drilled to 9,175 ft. The well is on a 640-acre lease in Section 88, Block 6, H&TC RR Co. Survey, A-1076. Initially slated to target Canyon as part of Probandt Field, log tops include Wolfcamp at 5,020 ft. and Canyon at 7,080 ft. Farther to the west and southwest, Exco is conducting an extensive drilling program in the Sugg Ranch Field area of Sterling, Tom Green, and Irion counties.

3 About 13 miles northeast of the town of Garden City, a workover in Glasscock County (RRC Dist. 8), Texas, has been completed by Sweetwater, Texas-based R.L. Adkins Corp. The #1 J.L. Glass Ranch was tested flowing 122 bbl. of 43-degree-gravity crude per day with a trace of gas, through acidized perforations in Ellenburger at 9,720-30 ft. Gauged on a 10/64-in. choke, flowing tubing pressure was calculated at 360 psi. The well was deepened to a total depth of 9,920 ft., before plug-back to 9,790 ft. The completion is on a 320-acre lease in Section 221, Block 29, W&NW RR Co. Survey, A-496.

4 A development test by Salt Lake City independent Questar Exploration & Production Co. had an initial flow rate of 1.41 million cu. ft. of gas, 20 bbl. of 49-degree-gravity oil and 15 bbl. of load water per day. The western Beaver County, Okla., venture, #1-20 Mary Ellen in Section 20-3n-22e, was tested on a 14/64-in. choke. Production comes from a fracture-stimulated interval of Chester at 7,568-76 ft. and the shut-in tubing pressure is 1,700 psi, with flowing tubing pressure of 690 psi. The 8,000-ft. well encountered the top of Morrow at 6,680 ft. and Chester at 7,050 ft.

5 Crusader Energy Group Inc. has completed another horizontal Cleveland producer in the western Anadarko Basin. The #2H-19 Rangers is in Section 30-20n-24w, Ellis County, Okla., and flowed 320 bbl. of 47-degree-gravity oil, 852,000 cu. ft. of gas and 18 bbl. of water daily on completion. Flow is from a fracture-stimulated, openhole Cleveland lateral at 8,827-13,300 ft. Production was gauged on a 56/64-in. choke with 700 psi flowing tubing pressure and 1,649 psi shut-in tubing pressure. Oklahoma City-based Crusader drilled the prospect northward to a true vertical depth of 8,452 ft. at a bottomhole location in Section 19-20n-24w.

6 A horizontal well by Penn Virginia Corp., Radnor, Pa., initially flowed 6.33 million cu. ft. of gas, 733 bbl. of 53-gravity condensate and 1,350 bbl. of oil per day. The #2-4H Boatsman is in Section 4-11n-16w, northern Washita County, Okla., and was tested on a 32/64-in. choke. Production is from four fracture-stimulated intervals in Des Moines Granite Wash at 12,140-12,707 ft., 13,495-14,059 ft., 14,848-15,425 ft. and 15,524-16,178 ft. The new producer was drilled to 16,240 ft., 11,827 true vertical, and shut-in and flowing tubing pressures were measured at 4,850 psi and 2,160 psi, respectively. Penn Virginia is active at a nearby horizontal Des Moines project.

7 A Chesapeake Operating Inc. development well in Washita County, Okla., initially flowed 4.07 million cu. ft. of gas, 148 bbl. of 52-gravity condensate and 9 bbl. of water per day in its Colony Wash project near the town of Clinton, Okla. The well is in Section 18-11n-16w. The #2-18H Kliewer produces through fracture-stimulated perforations at 12,470-16,946 ft. in Des Moines Granite Wash. The horizontal was drilled northward to 17,050 ft. (12,214 ft. true vertical). Chesapeake reported shut-in pressure of 4,501 psi and flowing casing pressure of 2,857 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. Chesapeake’s headquarters are in Oklahoma City.

8 Near Burns Flat, Okla., St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. of Denver has completed a horizontal test in the western Oklahoma salient of the Anadarko Basin. The #7-35 West flowed 5.3 million cu. ft. of gas, 484 bbl. of condensate and 180 bbl. of water daily, and was tested on a 24/64-in. choke with 2,400 psi flowing tubing pressure. It was perforated and fracture-stimulated in 10 stages in Des Moines Granite Wash at 13,147-17,050 ft. The total depth is 17,175 ft. (true vertical depth 12,573 ft.) and the bottomhole location is in the southern part of the same section, Section 35-11n-18w, Washita County.

9 Duncan, Okla.-based Mack Energy Co. has completed a deeper-pool exploratory test in Oklahoma’s Crier Hills Uplift as an Arbuckle producer. The Mack Energy #1-17 GCF is in Section 17-5s-2w, southwestern Carter County. The well pumped 40-degree-gravity oil at an initial natural rate of 47 bbl. per day, with 120 bbl. of water per day through perforations at 8,228-50 ft., 8,284-8,300 ft. and 8,371-99 ft. Log tops reported by the company at the 8,400-ft. venture include McLeish, 5,905 ft.; Birdseye, 6,570 ft.; Oil Creek, 6,710 ft.; Joins, 7,140 ft., and Arbuckle at 7,390 ft. The nearest Arbuckle production is south and east at the discovery well for Joiner City Southeast Field.

10 A Hilltop Resort recompletion by Houston-based Gastar Exploration Ltd. is producing in three additional lower Bossier zones. The #3 Gastar Donnellson is in Leon County (RRC Dist. 5), Texas, Jose Maria Visa Survey, A-30, about 10 miles from Marquez, Texas. The well was tested in a shallow Lanier sand and is currently flowing at a gross sales rate of approximately 19.1 million cu. ft. of gas per day with approximately 5,300 psi of flowing casing pressure. The well was originally completed in 2007 flowing 8.94 million cu. ft. of gas and 90 bbl. of water daily through fracture-treated perforations at 18,890-18,930 ft. in Bossier. As the flowing pressure declines, Gastar plans to commingle the two remaining recompleted zones that are behind isolation plugs. The original completion was making approximately 5.5 million cu. ft. per day before the recent recompletion activity. Gastar owns a 62.3% working interest (47.2% net revenue interest) in the well.

11 Seeco Inc., a unit of Southwestern Energy, Houston, has completed two Arkoma Basin exploratory tests in northern Faulkner County, Ark. The #1-15H Black 8-12 is in Section 15-8n-12w and flowed 5.36 million cu. ft. of gas per day during preliminary tests of a north horizontal leg in the Fayetteville shale that was projected to 11,400 ft. (5,800 ft. true vertical). Shut-in pressure was reported at 2,164 psi. On the same drill pad 20 ft. to the west, #1-16H Arnold 8-12 was initially tested flowing 5.1 million cu. ft. of gas daily. It was designed with a parallel north lateral terminating in the northeast part of the section, with measured and true vertical depths projected at 11,500 ft. and 5,800 ft., respectively. Additional information about both wells has not been released.
