The well is in Section 6-14n-95w, and production is from a horizontal Fort Union interval at 11,759-15,325 ft., following a nine-stage fracture stimulation. The lateral extends southwestward and was drilled to 15,573 ft. Tested on a 28/64-in. choke, the casing pressure was 3,350 psi. The true vertical depth is 10,410 ft.

4 Swift Energy Operating LLC has scheduled a horizontal Niobrara (Mancos) wildcat off the northwestern flank of the San Juan Basin in La Plata County, Colo. The #1H Waters 34-12-32 will be drilled in Section 32-34n-12w and will bottom in Section 31-34n-12w. It has a planned depth of 6,900 ft. and a true vertical depth of 2,400 ft. The lateral will be drilled in the Smoky Hill member of Niobrara. The venture offsets two gas discoveries in the Alkali Gulch Field area; a 1957 completion initially flowed 15.7 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Lower Paradox at 9,420-9,500 ft. The horizontal drillsite is approximately five miles west and northwest of the San Juan Basin's Red Mesa Field, which produces from several horizons, including Dakota, Gallup, Graneros, Mesaverde, Menefee, Carlile and Mancos. Swift's headquarters are in Houston.

5 Axia Energy LLC has completed a Niobrara horizontal exploratory test in the Sand Wash Basin that initially flowed 7.07 million cu. ft. of gas per day, with no fluids. The #5-31H-790 Bulldog is in Section 5-7n-90w of Moffat County, Colo. Production is from a Niobrara interval at 12,116-17,457 ft. after 22-stage fracturing. Tested on a 22/64-in. choke, the casing pressure was 4,350 psi. The Niobrara lateral extends from 10,642 ft. south-southwestward to 17,645 ft. at a bottomhole in Section 8-7n-90w. True vertical depth at the well's endpoint is 11,902 ft. The venture by the Denver-based company is on the southern flank of Craig North Field, which produces gas from Cretaceous Lewis. The closest production from Niobrara is about seven miles south in Buck Peak Field.

6 Denver-based SM Energy Co. completed the first horizontal Shannon producer in Finley Draw Field in Converse County, Wyo. According to IHS Inc., #4076-23-14-1SH Bridger is in Section 23-40n-76w and initially flowed 642 bbl. of 41-degreegravity oil, 313,000 cu. ft. of gas and 392 bbl. of water per day after 30-stage fracture stimulation. Production is from a horizontal lateral extending from 11,216 ft. north-northwestward to 20,386 ft., with a bottomhole in Section 14-40n-76w. The true vertical depth at the well's endpoint is 10,802 ft.

7 Results from a horizontal exploratory test were announced by Ballard Petroleum Holdings Inc. The Powder River Basin discovery, #44-31 TH Leavitt Trust, is in Section 31-43n-73w of Campbell County, Wyo. It initially flowed 600 bbl. of 36-degree-gravity oil and 595,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. Production at the 11,610-ft. test is from an untreated horizontal lateral in a fractured Turner zone at 11,218-11,610 ft. Flow was gauged through an 18/64-in. choke. According to the Billings, Mont.-based company, when reservoir pressure drops sufficiently, it will reenter the lateral and continue drilling it north-northwestward to its original objective of 15,471 ft.

8 Cirque Resources LP, based in Denver, has scheduled three more horizontal Codell exploratory tests in Laramie County, Wyo. Production is from a horizontal laterl extending from 10,783 ft. south-southeast to a 15,226 ft. depth. It was tested following 21-stage fracture stimulation between 10,783 ft. and 15,197 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was 575 psi on an unreported choke size. Slawson's headquarters are in Wichita, Kan.

11 Slawson Exploration Inc. plans to drill two horizontal Bakken and Three Forks wildcats in Fallon County, Mont. The company applied with the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation to create two 640-acre temporary spacing units comprising sections 7 and 9 of township 10n-60e. The company would apply for permanent spacing within 90 days of successful well completion. The two proposed units are about four miles northeast of the northwest-southeast trending Cupton Field, a Red River oil reservoir where a 1998 Chesapeake Operating Inc. discovery, #1-24 Schwei - gert, pumped 36 bbl. of oil and 81 bbl. of water daily.

12 A 7,800-ft. wildcat is planned in Lincoln County, Colo., by Denver-based Pine Ridge Oil & Gas LLC. The #12-53-19-6 Enchanted Forest, proposed for Section 19-12s-53w, will evaluate potential pays in Marmaton, Cleveland, Morrow, Keyes and Mississippian. There are three one-well pools in the area, including the Shade Tree Field discovery three miles north. The Shade Tree Field opener, #1 SSM-Mellott 1-6, by Wiepking-Fullerton, is in Section 6-12s-53w. Most land in the U.S. is divided into townships—rectangular tracts six miles square. The township, in turn, is divided into 36 numbered sections, each a one-mile square. The lines running north-south and dividing east from west are called range lines. The lines running east-west and dividing north from south are township lines.

A well in Section 15-Township 4 north-Range 3 east is abbreviated: 15-4n-3e.
