1 In Kern County, Calif., NiMin Energy subsidiary Legacy Energy Ltd. reported results from two vertical development wells in the Pleito Creek Field. The #23-35 Ten West is in Section 35-11n-21w and was drilled to 4,665 ft. in the south flank of the field. The prospect hit 237 gross ft. of the Santa Margarita reservoir and 176 net ft. of oil pay. The #24-35 Ten West was drilled to 4,850 ft. in the same section: this venture encountered 365 gross ft. of the Santa Margarita reservoir and had 299 net ft. of oil pay. Based on mud log oil shows, log analysis and offset production, #24-35 Ten West encountered 80 ft. of potential pay in Chanac above the Santa Margarita. Legacy Energy, based in Carpinteria, Calif., first plans to complete #24-35 Ten West and then develop the Chanac reservoir.

2 Two new western Uinta Basin producers were reported by Bill Barrett Corp. of Denver. The producers are in the Altamont/ Cedar Rim Field area on Barrett's Blacktail Ridge-Lake Canyon prospect. The #3-36-36 BTR is in Section 36-3s-6w of Duchesne County, Utah, and initially flowed 326 bbl. of oil, 689,000 cu. ft. of gas and 737 bbl. of load water per day. Production comes from nine fracture-stimulated stage—four in Green River between 7,150 and 7,736 ft. and five in Wasatch between 7,893 and 9,048 ft. Flow was measured on a 28/64-in. choke with a casing pressure of 1,960 psi. It was drilled and cased to 9,355 ft. The second completion, #1-30-36 BTR, is a Green River/Wasatch producer that initially flowed 312 bbl. of oil, 638,000 cu. ft. of gas and 477 bbl. of load water daily. The venture is in Section 30-3s-6w and was tested in 10 fractured stages—five in Green River between 7,160 and 8,016 ft. and five in Wasatch between 8,026 and 9,540 ft. Flow was gauged through a 28/64-in. choke with a tubing pressure of 410 psi and a casing pressure of 400 psi. It was drilled and cased to 9,800 ft.

3 A Uinta Basin exploratory test by Newfield Exploration Co. of Denver initially pumped 268 bbl. of oil with 12,000 cu. ft. of gas and 137 bbl. of water per day. The #10-7-4-2 Ute Tribal is in Section 7-4s-2w of Duchesne County, Utah, and was tested in Wasatch between 7,620 and 8,824 ft. after drilling to 9,000 ft. The venture was fracture-stimulated in four stages. Newfield has locations staked for three more Green River/Wasatch tests on Ute Tribal leases in Section 7.

4 Petro-Hunt LLC completed an offset to the Bloomfield South Field discovery in Dawson County, Mont., that was producing an average of 254 bbl. of oil, 32,200 cu. ft. of gas and 27 bbl. of water per day. The #17D-20-1H Boje Farms 19-54 is in Section 17-19n-54e and production comes from the Red River C zone. The reported true vertical depth is estimated at 10,996 ft. It's on a 640-acre spacing unit taking in the south half of Section 2 of Section 17 and the north half of Section 20. Additional completion information was not made available by the Dallas-based company.

5 Brigham Oil & Gas LP completed a horizontal wildcat that initially flowed 2,305 bbl. of oil, 1.66 million cu. ft. of gas and 4,681 bbl. of load water per day. The Austin-based company's #1-H Gibbins 1-12 is in Lot 2 of Section 1 of partial township 152n-104w, Williams County, N.D. The venture produces from a horizontal Middle Bakken lateral extending from 10,920 ft. southward to a 20,900 ft. (10,546 ft. true vertical) at a bottomhole location in Section 12-152n-104w. Gauged on a 96/64-in. choke after 33 stages of fracture stimulation, the flowing casing pressure was 400 psi. It was drilled on a 1,280-acre spacing unit comprising all of sections 1 and 12 on Brigham's Rough Rider prospect.

6 Houston-based Ursa Resources Group LLC completed a horizontal wildcat in Section 15-148n-99w of McKenzie County, N.D. The #1H Borseth initially flowed 1,249 bbl. of 40-degree-gravity oil, 1.78 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,900 bbl. of load water per day from Middle Bakken. The well is producing from a horizontal lateral in Middle Bakken extending from 11,572 ft. to 20,333 ft. Flow was gauged through a 30/64-in. choke and the casing pressure was 2,050 psi and was tested following a 30-stage fracture stimulation between 11,600 and 20,168 ft. The true vertical depth is 11,205 ft. According to IHS Inc., the Borseth discovery is the first producer in the township.

7 Two stepouts were completed from the same drillpad by Denver-based Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp. as a North Tobacco Garden-Bakken pool discovery in McKenzie County, N.D. The #9-5-6-5H Koala is in Section 5-151n-99w and initially flowed 3,042 bbl. of oil equivalent per day from an 8,968-ft. horizontal Middle Bakken lateral following 24-stage fracture stimulation. According to IHS Inc., the lateral extends from 11,704 ft. westward to 20,670 ft. at a bottomhole location in Section 6-151n-99w. The true vertical depth is 11,272 ft. A horizontal Three Forks producer, #9-5-6-12H3 Koala, initially flowed 2,327 bbl. of oil equivalent per day. Production is from a 9,172-ft. lateral in Three Forks after a 24-stage fracturing. The lateral extends from 11,173 ft. westward to 20,881 ft. at a bottomhole location in Section 6-151n-99w and the true vertical depth is 11,327 ft.

8 In Colorado's Hereford Field, EOG Resources Inc. of Houston completed three horizontal Niobrara producers in Weld County. The #1-35H Fox Creek is in Section 35-12n-63w and initially flowed 553 bbl. of oil per day from a fractured horizontal Niobrara lateral drilled southeastward to a proposed depth of 12,514 ft. The #9-11H Bessie is in Section 11-11n-63w and initially flowed 432 bbl. of oil per day from a fractured horizontal Niobrara lateral drilled south-southeastward to a proposed depth of 11,830 ft. at a bottomhole location in the southern part of the same section. The #12-25H Jersey is in Section 25-11n-63w and initially flowed 404 bbl. of oil per day from a fractured horizontal Niobrara lateral drilled southeastward to a proposed measured depth of 12,884 ft.

9 Two horizontal Niobrara discoveries were reported by Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. in Weld County, Colo. The #36-24-9-61 State is in Section 36-9n-61w and initially flowed 681 bbl. of oil per day. Production is from a fractured horizontal lateral in the Niobrara B bench extending north-northwestward to 10,195 ft. at a bottomhole location in the same section. The true vertical depth is 6,517 ft. The #36-44-8-62 Bob White is in Section 36-8n-62w and initially flowed 725 bbl. of oil and 785,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. Production is from a fractured horizontal lateral drilled north-northwestward to 10,608 ft. at a bottomhole location in the same section. Initial production net to Carrizo was 595 bbl. of oil and 644,000 cu. ft. of gas daily. Additional completion information is not available from the Houston-based operator.

10 A Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. Niobrara discovery, #16-11-9-60 State, in Section 16-9n-60w of Weld County, Colo., was completed flowing 602 bbl. of oil and 370,000 cu. ft. of gas per day to open Checkerboard Field. Production is from a fractured horizontal Niobrara lateral extending southeastward to 11,720 ft. Flow was gauged through a 48/64-in. choke with a casing pressure of 270 psi. Additional completion information was not made available. Carrizo's headquarters are in Houston.

11 A Buccaneer Alaska Operating LLC wildcat discovery flowed gas at a restricted rate of 10 million cu. ft. per day during production tests on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. The #1 Kenai Loop is in Section 33-6n-11w, Seward Meridian and was drilled to 10,680 ft. Gauged on a 20/64-in. choke, the well produced from 87 net ft. of pay in two undisclosed Upper Tyonek zones. The Houston-based operator noted its wildcat encountered an additional 14 zones totaling 423 ft. of gross pay in the Upper Tyonek and Beluga that will be tested at a later date. A second well is planned for third-quarter 2011. Buccaneer is based in Houston.
