1 Formations through Ordovician Trenton are to be evaluated at the #2 Jurgens, a remote wildcat staked by Frontier Exploration Inc., Lexington, Ky., in Moultrie County, Ill. IHS Energy Group reports the venture, in Section 14-15n-6e, has a projected depth of about 3,600 ft. In 1996, Frontier completed a 3,600-ft. dry hole 0.5-mile to the north at the #1 Jurgens in Section 11-15n-6e. Shows reported in Silurian and Trenton apparently were not tested. The nearest production, from Mississippian, is about 6 miles to the east in Douglas County's Bourbon Consolidated Field. 2 Team Energy LLC, Bridgeport, Ill., has run casing to Trenton at a wildcat it drilled to 5,910 ft. in Section 19-7n-8w, Sullivan County, Ind. Team's #1A R. Ridge was originally set up as a 6,000-ft. Cambro-Ordovician Knox stratigraphic test. 3 Shell Western E&P Inc. pumped 168 bbl. of oil and 48 bbl. of water, with 136,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day at the #2-22HD1 State-Forest, a horizontal redrill of the opener of Michigan's Forest 22-33n-1e Pool A Field. The well, in Section 22-33n-1e, Forest Township, Cheboygan County, is producing from an openhole horizontal Silurian Niagaran interval between 3,928-5,324 ft. It's a redrill of Shell's #2-22 State-Forest, a vertical well completed in 1987 pumping 120 bbl. of oil with 96,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from Brown Niagaran at 4,015-73 ft. 4 Drilling is under way at the Wepco Energy Co. #1-10 Schilleman in Section 10-12n-18w, White River Township, Muskegon County, Mich. IHS Energy Group says Traverse City, Mich.-based Wepco plans to drill the wildcat to 3,950 ft. in order to test Niagaran. 5 Mildco Inc., Jackson, Mich., is rigging up rotary tools at the #1-18 Curtis and Hilden Oil Co. Inc., Brooklyn, Mich., has applied for a permit to drill the #1-26 Mead, both Ordovician wildcats in Jackson County, Mich. Mildco plans to drill to 4,750 ft. to test Trenton and Black River at its venture, in Section 18-4s-1w, Liberty Township. Meanwhile, Prairie du Chien is the target at Hilden's 5,287-ft. project in Section 26-1s-3w, Springport Township. 6 New York's Chemung County is the site of the #1323 Lovell, a remote wildcat scheduled to be drilled to 10,300 ft. by Pennsylvania General Energy Corp., Warren, Pa. Presumably, the company will evaluate Trenton-Black River at the venture, in Big Flats Township, Section D of Big Flats Quad. 7 Deep exploration in West Virginia's Roane County, primarily in the Amma-Looneyville-Newton Field area, is picking up, no doubt sparked by a Trenton-Black River discovery completed a year ago by Charleston-based Columbia Natural Resources Inc. flowing 50 million cu. ft. of gas per day from 10,255-71 ft. The discovery is the #820097 Frederick C. Parker et al. in Geary District, Smithfield Quad. CNR has staked two more deeper-pool wildcats in Smithfield District. Projected depth is 14,000 ft. at the #824254 Linkinogger in Tariff Quad, about 8 miles northeast of the company's discovery. About 4 miles northeast of the discovery, CNR plans to drill the #824257 Garrison Tawney et al. in Looneyville Quad. Cambrian Copper Ridge is the deepest of several zones scheduled to be tested. Also in the area, B&R Construction Inc., Spencer, W.Va., plans to drill to 18,000 ft. at a pair of deeper-pool wildcats. They are the #1 Justice in Geary District, Clio Quad, which has a primary objective of Trenton-Black River, and, about 5 miles to the northeast, the #4 Cross in Smithfield District, Tariff Quad. The #1 Justice is 2.5 miles northeast and the #4 Cross nearly 8 miles northeast of CNR's discovery. 8 West Virginia's Raleigh County is slated to get four new Mississippian wildcats, all staked by Dominion Appalachian Development Inc., Jane Lew, W.Va., on its Rowland Land Co. lease in Marsh Fork District. IHS Energy Group reports the #45 and #46 tests, in Arnett Quad, are scheduled to 3,500 ft. and 3,600 ft., respectively, to test Weir. In Pilot Knob Quad, the #22 and #23 ventures are projected to Pocono Sand at about 3,500 ft. 9 Devonian zones are to be evaluated to a depth of 5,800 ft. at the #V-4379 Sutherland, a new-field wildcat staked by Equitable Production Co., Houston, in Dickenson County, Va. The venture is in Willis District, Clintwood Quad, about 3 miles northwest of Lower Devonian gas production in Nora Field. 10 Huntsville, Tenn., independent Miller Petroleum Inc. is drilling toward a projected depth of about 5,000 ft. at its #1 Bernardo Valletta in Section 14-1s-78e, Camelot Quad, Hawkins County, Tenn. The new-field wildcat is scheduled to test Devonian Chattanooga Shale. 11 Georgia's Dooly County is to get a 5,000-ft. wildcat-the Atlantic Oil & Gas LLC #1 Ronney S. Ledford. IHS Energy Group notes that if successfully completed, the venture would be the first producing well in the state. Perry, Ga.-based Atlantic's #1 Ledford is in Land Lot 80, District 6, about 7 miles northeast of Vienna. 12 A half-mile northwest outpost to Buncomb Creek Field in Pickens County, Ala.-the #1 McShan 32-7 drilled by Roundtree & Associates Inc., Jackson, Miss., in Section 32-18s-15w-tested gas at the rate of 800,000 cu. ft. per day on a 20/64-in. choke from Carter Sand. According to the Southeastern Oil Review, Roundtree is considering a fracture treatment at the well, which has been perforated at 5,736-51 ft. The company is nearing 4,200 ft. at another outpost it's drilling in Pickens County, this one the #1 Buckhalter 1-3 in Section 1-19s-15w, 1.25 mile southeast of Chicken Swamp Branch Field. The new venture is a proposed 5,900-ft. Paleozoic test. 13 Tepco Resources Inc., Houston, is set to drill to 16,000 ft. at a Jurassic Smackover wildcat in Section 11-3n-5e, Monroe County, Ala. IHS Energy Group reports the #1 Strago-Blacksher 11-2 is to be directionally drilled, bottoming less than 0.5-mile to the east in the same section. It's about 5 miles east of Little River Field, a Smackover pool. 14 Local Inc., Cottondale, Ala., and S. Lavon Evans Jr. Operating Co. Inc., Laurel, Miss., have each drilled a Paleozoic exploratory test in Lamar County, Ala., says the Southeastern Oil Review. Local is waiting on orders after perforating at 2,323-29 ft. in Carter Sand at the #1 Burnett 16-14 in Section 16-14s-14w. The prospect is nearly 0.5-mile northwest of Carter gas production in Brush Creek Field. S. Lavon Evans Jr. Operating has set pipe at 4,660 ft. after logging multiple pays at its 4,700-ft. #1 Holliman 36-10 in Section 36-17s-14w. The test was drilled on the company's County Line Prospect, a mile south and slightly east of gas production from about 4,500 ft. in Mississippian Lewis in Little Coal Fire Creek Field.
