?1 The #1-22 James is slated to be drilled on the southeastern end of the Cambridge Arch, about 12 miles west-northwest of Oakley, Kan. Murfin Drilling Co. Inc., Wichita, Kan., plans to target Mississippian at a projected depth of 4,900 ft. in Section 22-10s-34w, southern Thomas County. Closest previous production was about two miles southeast. There, the #1-25 Mai Trust opened Nollette Southwest Field in 1992. It was completed pumping 70 bbl. per day of oil. It produced 10,000 bbl. of oil before it was abandoned in 1998. Berardo Southwest Field, about 3.5 miles northeast, contains the closest active well.

Enid, Okla.-based BlueRidge Petroleum Corp. has slated its remote #1-11 Gjerststad wildcat in a lightly drilled, nonproducing region of the Hugoton Embayment south of Dodge City, Kan., in west-central Ford County. The venture is in Section 11-27s-25w and will target Mississippian at a depth of 5,200 ft. The closest of three dry holes is three miles west-northwest. An unnamed, one-well Mississippian pool was discovered in 1983 about five miles east-southeast. There, #1 Marvel flowed 100,000 cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water per day. It was converted to domestic use with no attempt made to confirm. About six miles southeast, Willroads North Field contains the nearest previous commercial producers. That field was discovered in 1981 and abandoned in 2002. It produced 152,000 bbl. of oil from four wells in Marmaton and Cherokee. One-well Conrady Field, online from 1977 through 1983, recovered 15,000 bbl. of oil approximately 6.5 miles northeast, according to IHS Inc.

A four-well drilling program has been slated for the Arkoma Basin about three to 10 miles east of Mansfield, Ark., in the western portion of the state. Littleton, Colo.-based Potoco LLC has applied for a permit for its first in the program in southwestern Logan County, #1-26 LeCompted in Section 26-5n-29w. The 7,875-ft. venture will target Mansfield/Hartford (Middle Atoka). The proposed site is approximately two miles southeast of a 1982 discovery in the Mansfield Field area. There, #1-22 Robert Viguet was drilled to Arbuckle and was tested in Hartford flowing 548,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The prospect was abandoned without ever being brought online. The #1-32 Holley is in Section 32-5n-29w more than three miles southwest. The #1-1 Metcalf is two miles farther southwest in northern Scott County. The final well in the program, #1-9 Byrd, is three miles southwest of #1-1 Metcalf and 0.5 mile south of Mansfield Field. Mansfield Field was discovered in 1902 and has produced 84.2 billion cu. ft. of gas from Hartford and the shallower Mansfield.

Seeco Inc., a unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy Co., reports completion information on four Arkoma Basin horizontal shale-gas wells completed nine to 12 miles southeast of Clinton, Ark., in northern Conway County. The #1-20H Reyes Salinas 9-15 is in Section 20-9n-15w. It initially flowed 5.43 million cu. ft. of gas per day, but no other details are available. The company’s #2-20H Reyes Salinas 9-15, in Section 20-9n-15w, was tested flowing 4.45 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Approximately 1.25 miles northeast, #3-16H Magdalena Salinas 9-15 tested flowing 4.42 million cu. ft. of gas in Section 16-9n-15w. The fourth new producer is almost two miles farther east. The #2-14H Gary Stark 9-15 in Section 14-9n-15w flowed gas at an initial rate of 4.86 million cu. ft. per day.

The #1-13H Sawatzky was completed with an initial flow rate of 7.82 million cu. ft. of gas, 772 bbl. of 53-gravity condensate and 246 bbl. of water per day. Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Operating Inc. is operator of the western Oklahoma prospect, located about four miles south of Clinton, Okla. The well is in Section 13-11n-17w, northern Washita County. It was tested between 12,264 and 16,607 ft. in a horizontal leg drilled in Des Moines Granite Wash. The company reported a flowing tubing pressure of 3,806 psi. The site is more than a mile south of the first Granite Wash producer in the township. The #1-12 Stehr was completed in January and flowed an initial 2.34 million cu. ft. of gas, 280 bbl. of 52-gravity condensate and 80 bbl. of water per day on a 12/64-in. choke.

Midland, Texas-based Wagner & Brown Ltd. plans exploration near Mannsville in southern Oklahoma’s Ardmore Basin. It is seeking a pooling order for Deese, Upper and Lower Dornick Hills, Springer, Caney, Sycamore, Woodford, Hunton, Sylvan and Viola underlying Section 14-4s-4e. The Johnston County prospect area is about two to three miles northeast of Mannsville. The site is three miles southeast of two tests in Section 9-4s-4e that flowed 1.8- and 2.1 million cu. ft. of gas equivalent per day.

Artesia, N.M.-based Marbob Energy Corp. has slated a western Lea County test in the Permian Basin of southeastern New Mexico. The #1 Bucko is scheduled to reach a total depth of 11,800 ft. to target Wolfcamp in Section 12-19s-34e as an apparent part of Airstrip Field. The nearest Wolfcamp producer in the field is approximately a mile northwest. The #3 New Mexico State was completed in 1983 with an initial daily potential of 10 bbl. of crude. Prior to being abandoned, the well produced only 282 bbl. of oil. The only current Wolfcamp production is 2.3 miles north of the proposed site. There, #1 Lea YH State pumped more than 400 bbl. of oil per day from Bone Spring in 1979. It went on to produce 207,139 bbl. of oil, 183.2 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 87,368 bbl. of water. Airstrip Field has recovered 2.76 million bbl. of oil, 2.53 billion cu. ft. of gas and 1.34 million bbl. of water since 1975.

?Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia, N.M., is waiting on completion tools at its #1 Swisher BJE State in the southern Eddy County portion of the Delaware Basin. The 11,729-ft. Wolfcamp prospect is almost 10 miles southwest of Loving, N.M., in Section 34-24s-27e. Harkey Field is 0.5 mile northeast. There, #1 State-John M. Kelly was completed in the late 1950s.
