1 OGX Resources has completed a horizontal Bone Spring producer in Eddy County, N.M. Located in irregular Section 31-26s-29e, #1H Copperhead 31 Federal Com had an initial daily potential of 307 bbl. of oil, 3.22 million cu. ft. of gas and 2,503 bbl. of water from a fracture-treated interval at 7,048-11,392 ft. in Bone Spring. The Delaware Basin horizontal well was drilled to 11,522 ft., 6,781 ft. true vertical, with a bottomhole beneath Section 30. According to IHS Inc., OGX has permitted several additional tests in the area including #2H Copperhead 31 Federal Com, a quarter-mile to the west in the same section. OGX is based in Midland, Texas.

2 Denver-based Cimarex Energy Co. completed a horizontal Bone Spring well in the Lusk South Field area of Lea County, N.M. The #3H Lusk Southeast 33 Federal is in Section 33-19S-32E. The well recorded a peak daily production rate of 1,173 bbl. of oil equivalent (997 bbl. of oil and 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas per day). According to Cimarex, the well has been producing from the second Bone Spring for two weeks and is still cleaning up and flowing back the fracturing load at over 500 psi on a 34/64-in. choke, without artificial lift. The well was permitted to a total depth of 14,191 ft., 9,370 ft. true vertical. Cimarex owns a 62.5% working interest and a 70.9% net revenue interest in the new producer.

3 Artesia, N.M.-based Yates Petroleum Corp. has completed a horizontal Bone Spring discovery in the Delaware Basin. The #1H Zapata BQZ State was tested flowing 286 bbl. of oil, 1.39 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,548 bbl. of water per day. Production comes from a fracture-treated Bone Spring zone at 9,370-13,555 ft. and the flowing tubing pressure was 1,000 psi. No choke size was reported. The well was drilled to 13,660 ft., 9,131 ft. true vertical, in Section 2-26s-32e of Lea County, N.M., and targeted Avalon shale.

4 Roswell, N.M.-based Arm-strong Energy Corp. completed a Fusselman oil producer in Roosevelt County, N.M. The #1 Peggy Sue State pumped 87.5 bbl. of oil, 133,000 cu. ft. of gas and 188 bbl. of water per day from an acid-stimulated zone at 7,722-28 ft. The apparent Tanneyhill East Field well is in Section 36-5s-33e and was drilled to 8,000 ft. In 2010 Armstrong completed #1 Pep 36 State, which reestablished production in Tanneyhill East Field. The company has also permitted a wildcat about one mile south, #1 Maggie May, which is slated to reach 8,300 ft. with an objective in Fusselman.

5 Houston Energy Operating LP, based in Houston, has completed a Central Basin Platform discovery in the Permian Basin. The Gaines County (RRC Dist. 8A), Texas, #1 Telephone Road was tested pumping 44 bbl. of 29.9-degree-gravity crude per day, with 12,000 cu. ft. of gas and 88 bbl. of water. Production comes from acidized commingled perforations from Sprayberry (9,000-9,214 ft.) Dean (9,416-9,516 ft.) and Wolfcamp (9,650-9,720 ft). According to IHS Inc., the new producer was vertically drilled to 12,845 ft. on a 294-acre lease in Section 5, Block C44, PSL Survey, A-1505, and was plugged back to 10,316 ft. for completion.

6 A new Mississippian producer in the Camrick Gas Area has been reported by IHS Inc. Strat Land Exploration Co.’s #1-15 Barbara is in Section 15-1n-19ecm of Texas County, Okla. The vertical was drilled to 7,520 ft. After acid treatment and fracture stimulation, the well flowed 420 bbl. of 45-degree-gravity oil with 1.75 million cu. ft. of gas per day, and no water. Production is from Chester at 7,098-7,312 ft. Tested on an 18/64-in. choke, the shut-in tubing pressure was 1,250 psi and the flowing tubing pressure was 1,100 psi. The initial oil production rate is the highest recorded for a Mississippian well in the Oklahoma Panhandle since 2002. Strat-Land is based in Tulsa.

7 A Devon Energy Co. development test initially flowed 24.8 million cu. ft. per day with 618 bbl. of 55-degree-gravity condensate and 940 bbl. of water. The new producer is in Section 2, Camp CSL Survey, A-26, in Wheeler County (RRC Dist. 10), Texas. The well is producing from a fracture-stimulated Des Moines Granite Wash interval at 11,755-15,823 ft. Tested on a 28/64-in. choke, the shut-in tubing pressure was 2,325 psi and the flowing tubing pressure was 1,129 psi. The respective measured and true vertical depths are 15,900 ft. and 11,589 ft. Devon is based in Oklahoma City.

8 Newfield Exploration Inc. of Tulsa has completed a horizontal Missourian producer in the western Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma. The #2H-16R Donnaleta is in Section 16-11n-24w of Roger Mills County. It initially flowed 1,872 bbl. of oil, 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas and 243 bbl. of water per day from an acidized and fracture-stimulated interval of Hogshooter at 11,736-16,202 ft. Drilled to 16,438-ft., 11,651 ft. true vertical, the well was tested on an 181/64-in. choke with a flowing tubing pressure of 58 psi.

9 An Anadarko Basin development test by JMA Energy Co. was tested flowing 485 bbl. of oil, 4.69 million cu. ft. of gas and 103 bbl. of water per day. Oklahoma City-based JMA’s #1-24H Charley is in Section 24-11n-23w of Beckham County, Okla. Production comes from a fractured horizontal section in Marchand (Missouri) at 11,710-15,472 ft. Tested on an open choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 850 psi. The venture was drilled with a southerly lateral terminating in the same section to a measured depth of 15,600 ft. and a true vertical of 11,301 ft.

10 A Springer sand discovery was completed by Chesapeake Operating Inc. in a non-producing township in the Anadarko Basin. The #1 Woodruff 8-9-14 is in Section 8-9n-14w, Washita County, Okla. The wildcat flowed 4.61 million cu. ft. of gas and 13 bbl. of water per day during initial tests of a fracture-stimulated interval of Lower Cunningham at 20,100-20 ft. Drilled to 20,275 ft. and tested on an 11/64-in. choke, the shut-in tubing pressure was 14,657 psi and the flowing tubing pressure was 13,379 psi. Chesapeake’s headquarters are in Oklahoma City.

11 A SandRidge Exploration & Production horizontal producer in Grant County, Okla., flowed 410 bbl. of 40-degree-gravity oil, 1.19 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,809 bbl. of water. The #1-17H Arnold is in Section 17-27n-8w and produces from Mississippi Lime from an acidized and fracture-stimulated lateral at 5,461-9,720 ft. The lateral extends northward to a bottomhole in the same section. Gauged on a 64/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 140 psi. The Cherokita Trend venture was drilled to 9,841 ft., with a true vertical depth of 5,274 ft. SandRidge is based in Oklahoma City.

12 Nadel & Gussman LLC, Tulsa, announced a record initial production rate completion from a Mississippi Lime well in Osage County, Okla. The #1A-11H Bend South pumped 402 bbl. of 46-degree-gravity oil with 526,000 cu. ft. of gas and 2,336 bbl. of water per day. The producer is in Section 11-23n-3e and flows from fracture-stimulated Mississippi Lime perforations between 7,332 and 8,256 ft. Drilled to 8,290 ft., the western Cherokee Basin prospect has a south-southwest lateral extending to a true vertical depth of 3,904 ft. at a bottomhole in Section 14-23n-3e.

13 Magnolia, Ark.-based

Weiser-Brown Operating Co. completed a Miller County, Ark., Smackover well that tested flowing 1.35 million cu. ft. of gas and 48 bbl. of oil. The well is in Section 20-16s-28w and was directionally drilled to 8,122 ft. Production is from natural perforations in Smackover at 7,964-68 ft. Gauged on a 12/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 2,190 psi and the shut-in tubing pressure was 2,450 psi. Weiser-Brown’s new well has apparently reestablished production in the abandoned Harmony Grove Field.
