?1 Yates Petroleum of Artesia, N.M., completed a directional Devonian discovery in southeastern New Mexico. The #4 Federal “FR” is in Section 21-16s-30e, Eddy County. The well flowed 666,000 cu. ft. of gas daily from an acid-treated openhole interval at 11,755-70 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was 550 psi on a 13/64-in. choke. Located on the Northwestern Shelf of the Permian Basin, the well bottomed a few hundred feet to the southeast in the same section. There is no comparable recovery in the area.

2 In the Texas Panhandle, Chesapeake Operating Inc. completed a development well six miles north-northeast of Wheeler as a producer in Des Moines Granite Wash. The #3H Lott 2 is in Section 2, Block 3, B&B Survey, A-875, northern Wheeler County (RRC Dist. 10). Tested on a 12/64-in. choke, the initial flow was 2.6 million cu. ft. of gas and 245 bbl. of 57-degree condensate daily, with no water. The 15,480-ft. venture was horizontally drilled northward, perforated and fracture-stimulated in eight stages between 11,545 and 15,422 ft. Chesapeake reported respective shut-in and flowing casing pressures of 3,163 psi and 2,888 psi, and a calculated absolute open-flow of 19.5 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Chesapeake headquarters are in Oklahoma City.

3 Near Laverne, Okla., Dallas-based Exco Resources Inc. has completed an Atoka development test on the Anadarko Basin’s northern shelf. The #6-24 Gonser is in Section 24-26n-24w, southwestern Harper County. Testing occurred on a 64/64-in. choke and 100 bbl. of 42-degree-gravity oil, 215,000 cu. ft. of gas and 23 bbl. of load water per day flowed from four acid- and fracture-stimulated intervals at 6,710-15 ft., 6,726-29 ft., 6,731-34 ft., and 6,742-47 ft. EXCO reported shut-in tubing pressure of 1,150 psi and flowing tubing pressure of 120 psi.

4 A new-pool discovery in Mississippian is reported by Denver-based St. Mary Land & Exploration in Beckham County near Erick, Okla. The #5-17 Sonny is in Mayfield West Field, Section 17-10n-26w, and it initially produced 2.71 million cu. ft. of gas and 62 bbl. of water daily through 10 fractured intervals of Mississippi lime between 16,412 and 17,152 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was 1,600 psi on a 16/64-in. choke. Log tops reported at the 17,187-ft. site include Douglas at 9,451 ft.; Des Moines at 12,533 ft.; Atoka at 14,095 ft.; and Mississippi lime at 16,258 ft. Nearest production from Mississippian lies nine miles to the west-northwest.

5 Also in Beckham County’s Mayfield West Field, Chesapeake Operating flowed gas at a preliminary rate of 4.01 million cu. ft. per day, with four bbl. of 55-degree condensate and eight bbl. of water daily. Drilled in Section 33-11n-26w, Chesapeake’s #4-33 Louella development well is producing from Atoka perforations between 16,654 and 16,872 ft. The reported shut-in and flowing casing pressures were 4,620 psi and 3,947 psi, respectively, with a calculated absolute open flow of 12.3 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The well was drilled to a total depth of 16,950 ft.

6 Marathon Oil Co. of Houston has completed a deeper-pool Morrow-Springer discovery in the southern Anadarko Basin about five miles from Sentinel, Okla. Marathon’s #9-31 Alice is in Section 31-9n-19w in Washita County. On a 24/64-in. choke, the well initially flowed 1.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 15 bbl. of water per day. It was perforated and fracture-stimulated in five Morrow-Springer intervals at 17,660-71 ft., 17,864-68 ft., 17,898-17,901 ft., 18,116-21 ft. and 18,384-93 ft. The shut-in pressure was 9,000 psi and flowing tubing pressure was 550 psi. Reported log tops include Des Moines Granite Wash at 10,727 ft.; Atoka at 13,430 ft.; and Morrow-Springer at 17,302 ft.

7 Primexx Operating Corp., based in Dallas, completed a 102-bbl.-of-oil-per-day producer in northern Oklahoma. The development well is nine miles northwest of Medford. Producing from the Mississippian, #2 JP 31 is in Section 31-29n-5w, Grant County. The well was drilled to 5,400 ft. and perforated and fracture-stimulated in Mississippi lime at 4,944-60 ft.; 4,974-88 ft.; 5,002-12 ft.; 5,026-38 ft.; and 5,046-54 ft. In addition, #2 JP 31 is producing 40,000 cu. ft. of gas and 387 bbl. of water daily.

8 Near Oklahoma City, Petrohawk Energy Corp. of Houston produced 220 bbl. of 40-degree-gravity oil, 80,000 cu. ft. of gas and 825 bbl. of water daily from a Hunton lateral. Petrohawk’s #16-2H State of Oklahoma is located in Section 16-14n-4w of Oklahoma County. The well is producing from an acidized openhole Hunton lateral at 7,081-8,832 ft. that was drilled southward to an unspecified bottomhole location in Section 21. It originally was permitted as an 11,287-ft. (7,000-ft. true vertical depth) test with bottomhole location to be in Section 21.

9 IHS Inc. is reporting a remote Stanley discovery by Longfellow Energy LP in southeastern Oklahoma. The Edmond, Okla.-based company’s #17-1 Self Trust is in Section 17-1s-14e, eastern Atoka County. The well flowed 150 bbl. of oil and 700,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with no water, through perforations at 4,898-5,024 ft. after fracture-stimulation. Production was gauged on a 22/64-in. choke with 250 psi flowing tubing pressure; shut-in tubing pressure was 1,300 psi. Tests of a deeper Stanley interval at 6,194-6,342 ft. flowed 216,000 cu. ft. of gas daily on a 24/64-in. choke. Shut-in and flowing tubing pressures for the deeper section were 600 psi and 50 psi. The wildcat logged the top of Stanley at 3,150 ft.

10 A middle Atoka producer by Fort Operating Co. flowed gas at an initial rate of 5.63 million cu. ft. per day at an Arkoma Basin development test about three miles southwest of Greenwood, Ark. Production at the #1 Frankie Plunkett in Section 29-6n-31w, Sebastian County, is from five fracture-treated intervals of the undifferentiated Middle Atoka at 5,496-5,518 ft.; 5,532-36 ft.; 5,546-52 ft.; 5,654-60 ft. and 6,142-66 ft. The Fort Smith, Ark.-based company reported 900 psi flowing tubing pressure on a 32/64-in. choke.

11 In Logan County, Ark., Highland Oil & Gas completed an 8,025-ft. Hartford well in Mansfield Field. The Fort Smith, Ark.-based company’s #1 Gregory was tested flowing 2.41 million cu. ft. of gas per day through acid- and fracture-treated perforations at 6,455-6,792 ft. On a 1-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 212 psi. The #1 Gregory is in Section 20-5n-29w.

12 Seeco, a unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy, released preliminary data on six new horizontal Fayetteville shale/Arkoma Basin completions in Section 25-9n-15w, Conway County, Ark. The #1-25H24 James Guinn “9-15” was drilled to a measured depth of 8,195 ft. and flowed 3.89 million cu. ft. of gas per day during tests from 4,312-8,104 ft. The #2-25H James Guinn “9-15,” a southward lateral, flowed 3.47 million cu. ft. of gas daily from 4,200-8,235 ft. About 50 ft. west, #3-25H24 James Guinn “9-15” flowed 5.49 million cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations between 4,564-8,349 ft. From the same pad, #4-25H James Guinn “9-15” had an initial daily flowing potential of 4.58 million cu. ft. of gas and produced from 4,437-8,357 ft. in a south lateral leg. From a common nearby drill pad, Seeco’s #5-25H James Guinn “9-15” flowed 3.65 million cu. ft. and #6-25H James Guinn “9-15” flowed 3.7 million cu. ft. per day.
