?1 Hemi Energy Group Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, reports that a drilling rig has been moved to its first drillsite on its Weseloh lease in the Cherry Creek Trend in Woodson County, Kan. The company reports drilling began in mid-May after being delayed by heavy rains in the area during the Memorial Day holiday.

2 Wichita, Kan.-based Lario Oil & Gas Co. plans to evaluate Stalnaker, Lansing-Kansas City, Simpson and Arbuckle with its #1 Lumbert. The 4,450-ft. wildcat is in Section 2-33s-1w, central Sumner County, in southern Kansas’ Sedgwick Basin about three miles south of Wellington. Rome and Rome Northeast fields are approximately two miles east of the current venture. Rome Field was discovered in 1976 and produced 606,000 bbl. of oil from Simpson and Mississippian reservoirs. Rome Northeast has produced 329,000 bbl. of crude from pays in Lansing-Kansas City, Mississippian and Simpson. Discovered in 1977, the field had one stripper well active in January, reports IHS Inc.

3 An Orr discovery was completed by Seeco Inc., a unit of Southwestern Energy Co., Houston, about 10 miles west of the town of Damascus in Conway County, Ark. The #3-9 Anderson 8-15 is in Section 9-8n-15w. It tested flowing 2.34 million cu. ft. of gas per day from an undisclosed interval above 3,700 ft. No additional details are available, reported IHS Inc.

4 Denver-based WhitMar Exploration Co. will evaluate Fayetteville shale with four northern Arkoma Basin horizontal wildcats about 15 miles north of the town of Ozark in Franklin County, Ark. The #1-7H Federal and #2-7H Federal are 40 ft. apart on a common drillpad in Section 7-12n-26w. The #1-13H Federal and #2-13H Federal are in Section 13-12n-27w. Rock Creek Field is about five miles southeast of the proposed ventures. The 50-well field has yielded 20.2 billion cu. ft. of gas from various Pennsylvanian reservoirs, Mississippian Pitkin, Wedington, Fay­ette­ville shale and Boone. Discovered in 1959, the reservoir was averaging 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas daily at the end of 2007. The nearest Fayetteville shale well is approximately 10 miles southwest in Jethro Field. Completed in early 2006, #2-30H Emielita flowed 234,000 cu. ft. of gas daily during initial tests, producing 19.4 million cu. ft. of gas in its first two years.

5 Vector Exploration Inc., Houston, completed its #1-11 KC 80 at the Three Sands project in Noble County, Okla. The well, drilled in Section 11-24n-1w, yielded 200 bbl. of oil on the first 24-hr. test from Upper Mississippian. It reached a depth of 4,720 ft. The project is in Tonkawa Field, which has pay zones from Arbuckle to the Pennsylvanian. Brinx Resources Ltd., Albuquerque, is a partner in the project.

6 Nitro Petroleum Inc., Oklahoma City, reports #3 Quinlan has reached its target depth of 4,800 ft. Located in Section 19-11n-5e, Pottawatomie County, Okla., the well passed through several formations, including Misener sandstone and Hunton, Viola and Simpson. The well is in Shawnee Northeast Field. The company’s #4 Quinlan is about 1,650 ft. south of #3 in the same section.

7 Shell Western Exploration & Production Inc. LP is scheduled to drill two remote wildcats off the western flank of the Tucumcari Basin approximately 13 to 19 miles northeast of Santa Rosa in northeastern Guadalupe County, N.M. The #2-34 Latigo-Singleton Properties LLC is in Section 34-10n-23e, and will be drilled to a proposed depth of 13,350 ft. to Mississippian. The 13,150-ft. #2-23 Webb-Hage & Webb Land & Cattle Co. is in Section 23-11n-23e. About 1.75 miles southwest, #1 Latigo Ranch Block was completed in 1983. That 7,407-ft. well had a flow of 17,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 10/64-in. choke. Abandoned Guadalupe Field is about 11 to 15 miles east of the current venture.

8 Tulsa, Okla.-based Sanguine Gas Exploration LLC completed three new Atoka producers in eastern Wheeler County, Texas, (RRC District 10) approximately nine to 10 miles east of the town of Wheeler. The #105 Marilyn is in Section 5, AB&M Survey, A-3. It flowed 6.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 860 bbl. of water per day on a 17/64-in. choke. About 0.5 mile southeast, #105 Buckingham was completed initially flowing 4.3 million cu. ft. of gas and 993 bbl. of water daily. The #2059 Bass-Calcote, in Section 59, Block A-7, H&GN Survey, A-330, flowed 5.15 million cu. ft. of gas with 694 bbl. of water per day. Flowing casing pressure was reported to be 2,300 psi on a 24/64-in. choke.

9 Plano, Texas-based Wynn-Crosby Operating LP has completed its #1 Jimmie Steadham in Cooke County, Texas (RRC District 9). The vertical Barnett shale producer is in the southwestern portion of Newark East Field. The well had an initial daily potential of 102 bbl. of 42-gravity oil, 60,000 cu. ft. of gas and 360 bbl. of water. The new venture reached a total depth of 8,423 ft. on a 60-acre lease in the BBB&C RR Co. Survey, A-158, approximately 0.75 mile east of the Montage County line.

10 Midland, Texas-based JM Cox Resources LP is drilling its #1 Scarlett about three miles south of the town of Plains in the central portion of Yoakum County, Texas (RRC District 8A). The well is slated to reach a total depth of 5,700 ft. and will apparently target Permian oil. The drillsite is in Section 548, Block D, John H. Gibson Survey, A-470. Brahaney East Field is less than 0.5 mile west. Opened in 1977, Brahaney East didn’t begin production until 1989 and has yielded a total of 820,277 bbl. of oil, 319.2 million cu. ft. per day of casinghead gas and 2.54 million bbl. of water from San Andres.

11 The #1 ESN Probandt has been slated for West Texas’ Veribest Field in northeastern Tom Green County, Texas (RRC District 7B). The Edwin S. Nichols Exploration Inc., Graham, Texas, venture will be drilled to a depth of 5,500 ft. in Section 23, WC RR Co. Survey, A-4020, approximately five miles northeast of the San Angelo city limits. The proposed venture will target several Pennsylvanian zones and a deeper Ellenburger interval.
The #1 J.W. Johnson was completed in 1951 about 0.25 mile west. It tested flowing 143 bbl. of 47-gravity crude per day from Strawn. As part of a two-well unit the well yielded 217,216 bbl. of oil, 306,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 389,774 bbl. of water until 1992. Harriett Field has produced from Palo Pinto and Strawn since the early 1950s.

12 Stratco Operating Co., Austin, Texas, has commenced drilling its #1 Sibley 84 in West Gomez Field in Pecos County, Texas (RRC District 8). Projected total depth is 22,820 ft. This is the first of several wells to be drilled in its multi-pay Block 83 84 project. Sun Cal Energy Inc., Calgary, is a partner.

13 Victory Energy, Carson City, Nev., reports drilling has started on its #12 Canyon Sandstone gas well in Crockett County, Texas (RRC District 7C). The company reports that eight wells are now producing with three others in various stages of completion.

14 An amended agreement was signed by Dallas-based International TME Resources Inc. and its joint-venture partners to test four cased holes drilled on a block of 33,962 acres in Edwards County, Texas (RRC District 1). Three tests will evaluate heavy oil in Trinity oil sands and one will evaluate Strawn gas sand.
