?Oil flowed at a stabilized rate of 16,750 barrels per day from a Tullow Plc-operated well in Jubilee Field, offshore Ghana. The #2 Hyedua appraisal well, which lies in the deepwater Tano license, was drilled to 3,663 meters in a water depth of 1,246 meters. The well intersected 55 meters of high-quality, oil-bearing reservoir sandstones, of which a 41-meter section has been production tested.
Three flow tests were conducted and a maximum rate of 16,750 barrels of 37-degree crude and 21 million cubic feet of gas per day was gauged through an 88/64-inch choke with a tubing-head pressure of 1,380 psi.
The test confirms that Jubilee is a highly productive reservoir; once the wells have been configured for long-term production, they will be capable of producing at rates of more than 20,000 barrels of oil per day.
Tullow (49.95%) of London operates the deepwater Tano license. Partners include Kosmos Energy (18%), Anadarko Petroleum (18%), Sabre Oil & Gas (4.05%) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (with 10% carried interest).

A joint review panel needs more time to complete its report on the Mackenzie Delta pipeline, reported Petroleum News. The panel is tasked with completing a report that considers the environmental and social aspects of a pipeline from the Mackenzie Delta to southern markets. The panel was roundly condemned for the slow pace of its progress by such various stakeholders as the Inuvialuit Regional Corp., Inuvik town council, and Northwest Territories officials. The most recent cost estimate for the pipeline, released in 2007, was C$16.2 billion.

2 United Kingdom
An IHS Inc. report stated that GDF Suez E&P UK has hit pay in the Southern Basin of the U.K. North Sea with an exploration well on its Juliet prospect. The #47/14b-10 Juliet was drilled south of producing Amethyst Field, about 40 kilometers east of the Humber Estuary to a total depth of 9,502 ft. The new producer tested at rates of up to 38 million cu. ft. of gas per day. GDF Suez is operator of Block 47/14b with an interest of 51.56%, while First Oil Expro holds the remaining 48.44%. GDF Suez has headquarters in London.

3 Nigeria
On offshore Nigerian block OML 102, Total reported its #1 Etisong well flowed more than 6,000 bbl. of 40-degree oil per day. The #1 Etisong is in 70 meters of water, about 15 kilometers from Ofon Field. Drilled to a total depth of 2,207 meters, the well produced from turbidite reservoirs and the results are being appraised by Total and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC). OML 102 is a joint NNPC and Total venture; Total holds a 40% interest and NNPC, 60%. According to E&P Daily, Total and NNPC are also working on prospects and producers in Akpo and Egina fields in OML 130, and have production from OML 99, 100 and 102 offshore blocks. Total headquarters are in Paris.

4 Hungary
In Hungary’s Pannonian Basin, JKX of London has announced appraisal well results for #2 Hajdunanas. The well was drilled vertically to 1,467 meters and encountered several gas-bearing intervals within the Miocene Pannonian between 990–1,080 meters. Two production tests were completed in Pannonian sands: An upper zone with a 25-meter perforated interval flowed at 7.4 million cu. ft. daily, and a lower zone tested a five-meter interval and flowed at 8.5 million cu. ft. per day. Preliminary estimates indicate 12 billion cu. ft. of gas in place in the Pannonian sands. Further testing will define the commercial significance of the underlying formation. The #2 Hajdunanas was drilled in the Hernad licenses, which cover 5,420 square kilometers in northeastern Hungary.

5 Egypt
E&P Daily reports a Dana Gas discovery at #1 Salma in Egypt’s Nile Delta/West Qantara concession. The #1 Salma was drilled to 7,320 ft. and penetrated 82 ft. of net pay in the Abu Madi formation; incremental reserves are currently estimated to exceed 150 billion cu. ft. of gas. A further 13-ft. sandstone gas pay was found in the shallower Kafr El Sheikh formation, where a production test flowed 17.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 415 bbl. of condensate daily; a second test in a shallower Abu Madi is planned. Dana Gas headquarters are in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

6 China
China’s state-owned CNPC is developing a $3-billion oil project in Iraq marking the first work by a foreign player since Saddam Hussein nationalized Iraq’s industry. The first project is al-Ahdab Field in Iraq’s eastern province of Wasit. CNPC will operate al-Ahdab under a recently renegotiated service agreement with the new Iraqi government. According to E&P Daily, estimated field production could be 100,000 to 130,000 bbl. of oil daily.

7 Saudi Arabia
According to the Saudi Gazette, Saudi Aramco has three oil discoveries in the Eastern Province. Well information was provided for #11 Jaouf, #9 Ramthan and #1 Nayashen, all northwest of Dhahran, near Nariya and Quaisumah. The #11 Jaouf found oil in Lower Dharma. Oil, 37-degree gravity, flowed at the rate of 2,551 bbl. per day from 8,025 ft. Gas flow of 1.2 million cu. ft. per day was also recorded. The #11 Jaouf also intersected oil in Marat, and that reservoir flowed 1,620 bbl. of 36.4-degree oil per day from 1,715 ft.
The #9 Ramthan was drilled at the northern edge of Ramthan Field. Flow was tested at 462 bbl. of light oil per day from 10,960 ft. in the Lower Al-Heet—a new pool in the field. Slightly farther northwest is #1 Nayashen, a discovery in the Nayashen area. That well flowed 2,076 bbl. of 36.9-degree oil daily from tests at 11,875 ft. in upper Al-Fadhili.

8 Saudi Arabia
Saudi Aramco is also reporting three offshore Arabian Gulf gas discoveries within 150 kilometers of Dhahran.
