1 The #1 Wright Gas Unit drilled by Acock/Anaqua Operating Co. was tested flowing 1.35 million cu. ft. of gas, 17 bbl. of 51.5-degree condensate and 1 bbl. of water per day through undisclosed perforations. Corpus Christi-based Acock/Anaqua Operating Co.’s completion is a Frio well in La Salle Field, Jackson County (RRC Dist. 2), near Vanderbilt, Texas. Gauged on a 12/64-in. choke, flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were at 1,965 psi and 2,265 psi, respectively. Absolute open flow was calculated at more than 5.35 million cu. ft. per day. The new producer, which was initially permitted as #1 Gallia-Wright, was drilled to a total depth of 7,634 ft. and plugged back to 6,706 ft.

2 In southern Shelby County (RRC Dist. 6), Texas, XTO Energy Inc. of Fort Worth completed an East Texas discovery. The #1 Parker-Hagler tested at 893,000 cu. ft. of gas and 175 bbl. of water per day through acid-treated perforations in Cotton Valley at 12,518-56 ft. On a 28/64-in. choke, the flowing and shut-in casing pressures were gauged at 1,400 psi and 5,200 psi, respectively. Absolute open flow was calculated at 967,000 cu. ft. per day. The well was drilled to a total depth of 12,641 ft. on a 40-acre lease in the Tutt Clement Survey, A-726. Log tops reported to IHS Inc. include Travis Peak at 7,583 ft., Bossier at 11,766 ft. and Haynesville at 12,223 ft. There is no comparable production in the area.

3 In Belle Bower Field in DeSoto Parish, La., Comstock Oil & Gas-Louisiana LLC completed a horizontal Haynes­ville shale well. The #1 A. Holmes HZ tested at an initial daily rate of 16.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,366 bbl. of water through fracture-treated perforations at 11,745-15,467 ft. The flowing casing pressure was 5,300 psi on a 30/64-in. choke. The new producer was drilled to 15,784 ft., 11,441 ft. true vertical, in Section 20-13n-16w. Log tops include James Lime at 5,572 ft.; Hosston at 6,647 ft.; Cotton Valley at 8,889 ft.; and Haynesville at 10,209 ft. Comstock is based in Frisco, Texas.

4 Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, Okla., finaled two horizontal Haynesville shale wells in Louisiana’s DeSoto Parish. Initial daily potential for Chesapeake’s #1 Frith 29H was 13.9 million cu. ft. of gas and 23 bbl. of water through perforations at 12,359-16,636 ft. On an 18/64 in.-choke, the flowing casing pressure was 9,147 psi. The producer was drilled in Section 29-14n-12w to 16,730 ft., 12,051 ft. true vertical, in Caspiana Field. Also in Caspiana Field, #1 Chesapeake Royalty 30H is in nearby Section 30-14n-12w. It flowed 16.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 79 bbl. of water per day through perforations at 12,265-16,700 ft. The new producer reached 16,870 ft. and the flowing casing pressure was 7,300 psi on a 20/64-in. choke.

5 A horizontal Haynesville shale producer was reported to IHS Inc. by Exco Production Co. of Shreveport. In Section 26-14n-13w of DeSoto Parish, La., #2 Moran 26 is in Kingston Field. The well was tested flowing 14.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 180 bbl. of water daily through fracture-treated perforations at 12,510-15,896 ft. Drilled to 15,993 ft., 12,053 ft. true vertical, the flowing casing pressure was 7,359 psi on a 24/64-in. choke.

6 Salt Lake City-based Questar Exploration & Production Co. reported a horizontal Haynesville shale producer in Thorn Lake Field, Red River Parish, La. The #1 Rex Young 6H tested 25.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,373 bbl. of water per day through fracture-stimulated perforations at 12,500-17,050 ft. On a 28/64-in. choke, flowing casing pressure was 7,700 psi. The new producer was drilled to 17,295 ft., 12,098 ft. true vertical, in Section 6-14n-11w. Log tops reported from the site include Pettet at 5,825 ft., Cotton Valley at 9,705 ft. and Bossier at 10,292 ft.

7 In Red River Parish, La., EnCana Oil & Gas USA Inc. completed a horizontal Haynes­ville shale well as part of Red River-Bull Bayou Field. The #1 Joseph Bolan 34H was tested flowing 7.695 million cu. ft. of gas and 196 bbl. of water per day through fracture-stimulated perforations at 12,670-15,409 ft. On an 11/64-in. choke, flowing casing pressure was 7,489 psi. The new producer was drilled to a total depth of 16,770 ft., 12,433 ft. true vertical, in Section 34-14n-11w. Log tops include James Lime at 5,461 ft., Bossier at 10,417 ft. and Haynesville at 12,514 ft. EnCana is based in Calgary.

8 Initial daily potential for EnCana Oil & Gas USA Inc.’s #1 Conway Harris 22H was 18.43 million cu. ft. of gas and 157 bbl. of water per day through fracture-treated perforations at 12,522-16,485 ft. Flowing casing pressure at the horizontal Haynesville producer was 8,335 psi on a 21/64-in. choke. Located in Red River Parish, La., in Section 22-14n-11w, the well was drilled to 16,620 ft. with a true vertical depth of 12,311 ft. and plug-back depth of 16,495 ft. Log tops include Cotton Valley at 9,487 ft., Bossier at 10,426 ft. and Haynesville at 12,745 ft.

9 Union Gas Co. of Houston completed a high-volume Wilcox well in South Louisiana’s St. Landry Parish, extending Port Barre Field. The initial daily potential for #1 Stanford was 821 bbl. of 48-degree crude, 1.18 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 76 bbl. of water through perforations at 11,258-64 ft. On a 14/64-in. choke, flowing casing pressure was 200 psi. The Wilcox producer is in irregular Section 39-6s-6e and was drilled to 15,583 ft. Port Barre Field has produced a cumulative 27.4 million bbl. of oil and condensate, 47 billion cu. ft. of gas and 112 million bbl. of water since 1957.

10 A Lower Tertiary find by BP Exploration & Production Inc. of London may contain as much as 3 billion bbl. of oil in place. The company reported that #1 OCS G25782 at its Tiber prospect in Keathley Canyon Block 102 hit oil in multiple Lower Tertiary reservoirs after drilling to 35,055 ft. in 4,132 ft. of water. BP intends to carry out appraisal drilling on the block to determine the size and commerciality of the discovery. Tiber is operated by BP, which holds a 62% stake in the prospect. Other partners are Petrobras, 20%, and ConocoPhillips, 18%. The discovery is one of the deepest wells ever drilled. BP was the most active bidder in a 2009 Gulf of Mexico lease sale where it acquired several blocks in the Keathley Canyon area.

11 Century Exploration Inc. of New Orleans completed a Louisiana state waters well on Breton Sound Block 45. The #2 State Lease 19050 tested at a daily rate of 768 bbl. of 39.5-degree oil and 3.6 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas from the Miocene at 15,126-45 ft. On a 12/64-in. choke, flowing tubing pressure was 9,862 psi and flowing casing pressure was 717 psi. The total depth is 15,347 ft. and water depth at the site was 13 ft.

12 At its deepwater Mirage prospect, ATP Oil & Gas Corp. of Houston has discovered additional pay sands in Mississippi Canyon Block 941. The company’s #3 OCS G16661 hit more than 250 ft. of net oil and gas pay. The well was drilled from a surface location in the eastern portion of Block 941 in approximately 4,000 ft. of water. The company plans to tie back production to one of three Telemark Hub fields via a floating deepwater drilling-and-production facility to be located on Mississippi Canyon Block 941.
