1 In LaSalle County (RRC Dist. 1), Texas, a horizontal Eagle Ford shale discovery has been recompleted by Houston-based Rosetta Resources Operating LP. The wildcat, #1 Springer Ranch, flowed 5.62 million cu. ft. of gas and 538 bbl. of water per day through acid- and fracture-treated perforations at 11,503-15,012 ft. On a 26/64-in. choke, the flowing casing pressure was 2,230 psi and the shut-in casing pressure was 5,115 psi. Absolute open flow was calculated at about 7 million cu. ft. per day after drilling to 15,240 ft. on a 7,905-acre lease in Section 502, BS&F Survey, A-1666. The vertical hole was originally drilled to 11,154 ft. in Austin Chalk and abandoned by Rosetta in April 2009, according to IHS Inc.

2 Suemar E&P tested a Vicksburg discovery in Hidalgo County (RRC Dist. 4), Texas, at 3.16 million cu. ft. of gas and 37 bbl. of 50.6-degree condensate per day. The Corpus Christi-based company’s #1 Freeland flowed from fracture-treated perforations at 9,417-50 ft. With a 12/64-in. choke, flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 3,846 psi and 4,815 psi, respectively. Absolute open flow was calculated at more than 9.75 million cu. ft. per day. Located on a 44-acre lease in the Gregerio Comacho Survey, A-28, the wildcat was drilled to a total depth of 15,280 ft. and plugged back to 10,550 ft.

3 In Karnes County (RRC Dist. 2), Texas, Enduring Resources LLC completed a horizontal Edwards well in Kawitt Field. The company’s #1 Eyhorn Gas Unit 1 flowed 2.64 million cu. ft of gas and 125 bbl. of water daily through acidized perforations at 15,730-16,380 ft. The flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 995 psi and 1,575 psi respectively, measured on a 24/64-in. choke; absolute open flow was calculated at about 3.9 million cu. ft. per day. The new producer is on a 660-acre lease in Section 2, B&B Survey, A-384, and was drilled to 16,432 ft. and plugged back to 16,422 ft. Log tops include Austin Chalk at 13,136 ft., Eagle Ford shale at 13,360 ft. and Edwards at 13,760 ft. Enduring Resources’ headquarters are in Denver.

4 Tulsa-based Samson Lone Star LLC finaled a Yegua directional test in Gulf Terrace Field, Jefferson County (RRC Dist. 3), Texas. The #2 Dishman-Broussard flow-tested 35.33 million cu. ft. of gas, 2,365 bbl. of 48.5-degree condensate and 67 bbl. of water per day through Yegua perforations at 13,260-13,351 ft. With a 25/64-in. choke, the flowing and shut-in casing pressures were 6,353 psi and 8,850 psi. The well was drilled to 13,764 ft., 13,016 ft. true vertical, and plugged back to 13,544 ft. on a 639-acre lease in the Almozer Huston Survey, A-33. Log tops include the Anahuac at 5,795 ft.; Marginulina, 6,140 ft.; Eocene, 9,950 ft.; and Yegua at 13,015 ft. The new Samson tests could extend Constitution or Constitution South fields in two deep Yegua reservoirs to the west.

5 San Antonio-based Republic Resources LLC completed the #1-Marrs-McLean Unit in Big Hill Field, EL & RR Co. Survey, Jefferson County, Texas, at a total depth of 7,670 ft. The well was tested from perforations between 6,484–87 ft. and gas flowed at a rate of 825,000 cu. ft. per day. The well is producing on a 5/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 2,900 psi. Additional well information is not currently available. Republic has more wells planned in the area.

6 St. Mary Land & Exploration’s #1 USA-BL flow-tested at 2.13 million cu. ft. of gas and 30 bbl. of water per day through fracture-treated perforations at 13,242-49 ft. The Haynes­ville producer is part of Huxley Field in San Augustine County (RRC Dist. 6), Texas. Using a 9/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 6,350 psi and the shut-in tubing pressure was 8,000 psi. The Denver-based company’s well bottomed at 13,535 ft. on a 640-acre lease in the Edmund Quirk Survey, A-35. Log tops include Glen Rose at 5,266 ft., Travis Peak at 8,514 ft., Bossier at 12,123 ft. and Haynesville at 13,340 ft.

7 Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Operating Inc. completed a Caspiana Field horizontal Haynesville well in Caddo Parish. The initial flow rate at #1 Hunter 35H was 11.11 million cu. ft. of gas and 187 bbl. daily through perforations at 11,851-16,313 ft. The reported flowing casing pressure was 3,760 psi on a 20/64-in. choke. Located in Section 35-15n-15w, the new producer was drilled to 16,406 ft., 11,709 ft. true vertical. Plug-back depth is 16,317 ft.

8 Longview, Texas-based J-W Operating Co. completed a horizontal Haynesville well in Caspiana Field, DeSoto Parish, La. The initial daily potential for #1 Pennywell 15 was 4.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 19 bbl. of water through fracture-treated perforations at 12,081-15,291 ft. In Section 15-15n-14w, the well was drilled to 15,390 ft. and plugged back to 15,341 ft. On a 14/64-in. choke, flowing tubing pressure was 3,500 psi. Log tops include Rodessa at 5,134 ft., Hosston at 6,304 ft., Cotton Valley at 8,615 ft. and Haynesville at 11,189 ft.

9 In Bracky Branch Field, Red River Parish, EnCana Oil & Gas completed a horizontal Haynesville well. The initial daily potential for #1 L.P. Ware Farms 22H was 17.61 million cu. ft. gas and 107 bbl. of water daily. After fracture-treated perforations at 11,654-16,177 ft., the flowing casing pressure was 7,694 psi on a 20/64-in. choke. Calgary-based EnCana’s new producer is in Section 22-13n-10w. The well was drilled to 16,350 ft. and plugged back to 16,187 ft. Log tops include Hosston at 6,658 ft., Bossier at 10,503 ft. and Haynes­ville at 12,655 ft.

10 A Discorbis well was completed by Lafayette, La.-based Flex Energy LLC in Grosse Isle Field, Vermilion Parish, La. The #1 Oak Bend LLC tested at a daily rate of 115 bbl. of 44.9-degree oil and 3.59 million cu. ft. of gas through perforations at 15,066-89 ft. The new producer, in Section 21-12s-4e, was drilled to a total depth of 15,267 ft. and plugged back to 15,200 ft. Flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 10,051 psi and 10,400 psi, respectively, on a 7/64-in. choke.

11 A directional Lower Wilcox well in Lake Washington Field flowed 882 bbl. of 24.9-degree crude, 210,000 cu. ft. of gas and 46 bbl. of water daily. Houston-based Swift Energy Operating LLC’s #17 BLD Cockrell-Moran is in Plaquemines Parish, La. Gauged on a 24/64-in. choke, flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 500 psi and 800 psi, respectively. The well was drilled to 6,900 ft., 6,691 ft. true vertical, in Section 13-20s-26e. Plug-back depth is 6,280 ft. The original well completion was in 2003 and flowed 379 bbl. of 39.4-degree oil and 858,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas daily through Cibicides carstensi perforations.

12 According to IHS Inc., Energy XXI Ltd. of Houston is completing three oil wells in offshore Louisiana’s Main Pass Block 61 Field. The #C-9 OCS G16493 was drilled to a vertical depth of 9,000 ft., and hit 122 net ft. of oil pay in the BA-4AA1, BA-4AA2, BA-4AA2B and J-6 sands between 7,145-7,810 ft. The company drilled an exploration tail for the CY-2 horizon below 8,000 ft. and encountered 10 net ft. of high-quality oil pay. Energy XXI will complete the J-6 sand, with an initial production rate of 2,000-4,000 bbl. of oil equivalent per day. Water depth in the area is 91 ft. In addition, well logs indicate that the company’s #A-11 OCS encountered 61 net ft. of oil pay in the target J-6 sand. Logs from a third Main Pass 61 well, #A-10 OCS G16493, indicate 45 net ft. of hydrocarbon pay in the target J-6 sand, but with gas/oil contact near the top of the sand. The #A-10 was sidetracked away from the gas and drilled to 7,187 ft., true vertical.
