?1 The #1 Samuel A. Lipsey, a workover permitted by Tyler, Texas-based Southwest Operating Inc., is active in Anderson County (RRC 6), Texas. The 6,300-ft. venture is in Box W. Roland Survey, A-11, in the Elkhart Field area. It’s slated to evaluate Woodbine. The well was originally completed in 1969 at a total depth of 10,513 ft. It flowed 5 million cu. ft. of gas a day and yielded 7.19 billion cu. ft. of gas, 91,260 bbl. of condensate and 22,716 bbl. of water through 2003. Woodbine recovery comes from the field, about 1.25 miles east-northeast. Onstream since 1954, Elkhart Field has yielded a total of 56.08 billion cu. ft. of gas, 625,297 bbl. of condensate and 540,696 bbl. of water from Woodbine and Pettit, according to IHS Inc.

2 Dallas-based Exco Resources Inc. has increased its proven reserves by 52% to about 1,902 billion cu. ft., up from 1,250 billion cu. ft. at the end of 2006. Probable and possible reserves more than doubled from 1,911 billion cu. ft. in 2006 to 4,192 billion cu. ft. at the end of 2007. The company’s net production for last year totaled 121.3 billion cu. ft. with a daily average of 136 million cu. ft. The company’s drilling success rate was 99%, with full-year spending of $487.2 million. The company’s approved 2008 capital budget totals $625 million and it plans to fund the drilling and completion of 609 gross wells this year.

3 Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc., Dallas, is continuing its program in the Sawfish Field area in DeWitt County, Texas, (RRC 2). The #1 Claude Blackwell Gas Unit is in John J. Tumlinson Survey, A-45. The 17,000-ft. wildcat was drilled to Edwards as its apparent objective. The nearest well in the survey was completed in 1975 about two miles northeast. There, #1 Dixel-Harold B. Kirkham flowed 298,000 cu. ft. of gas a day. Although it was never brought online, it is considered to be the opener for Gossamer Field. The Edwards reservoir has produced a cumulative 2.23 billion cu. ft. of gas, 275 bbl. of condensate and 199,678 bbl. of water from the fall of 2006 through October 2007.

4 Sanchez Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, has scheduled a third directional wildcat in Hidalgo County (RRC 4). The #3 Rio Farms is in the Hargill Field area, Vicente Ynojosa Survey, A-75. According to IHS Inc., the company reports it is waiting for completion tools at its #1 Rio Farms 0.5 mile southeast. The operator’s #2 Rio Farms is another 0.5 mile southwest. Last year, Tulsa-based Samson Lone Star LP completed its #1 Macarena as part of Hargill Field. The 9,760-ft. venture has a daily potential of 2.58 million cu. ft. of gas with 7 bbl. of condensate from Frio. So far, it has yielded more than 2.15 billion cu. ft. of gas and 4,106 bbl. of condensate since April 2007. Hargill Field has produced a cumulative 7.58 billion cu. ft. of gas, 207,161 bbl. of condensate and oil and 351,363 bbl. of water from Frio since it was opened in 1954.

5 Petrobras America Inc. finished drilling the first of two tests offshore Texas in the southern corner of North Padre Island Block A-94. The #1 (BP) OCS G27459 is in 320 ft. of water. Nearest production is more than 25 miles north on Block A-72. The #1 OCS G11213 was completed in 1991 with a combined initial daily potential of 5.66 million cu. ft. of gas. It was recompleted in 1995 and recovered a total of 8.19 billion cu. ft. of gas and 11,202 bbl. of water through 1996.

6 An offshore Louisiana wildcat is scheduled for West Cameron Block 364. Bayou Bend Offshore Ltd. will drill #1 OCS G27803 in the southern half of the tract in 79 ft. of water. The #1 OCS G15083 was dually completed from about the same surface location in 1997. The well yielded 2.5 billion cu. ft. of gas, 117,768 bbl. of condensate and 95,844 bbl. of water through 2004, as part of West Cameron Block 368 Field. Block 368 has produced 123.6 billion cu. ft. of gas, 625,631 bbl. of condensate and 3.05 million bbl. of water since coming online in 1988.

7 The #1(ST/BP) OCS G27107 was drilled in the southern half of Eugene Island Block 152. LLOG Exploration Offshore Inc., Metairie, La., contracted the well in 72 ft. of water as a sidetrack out of #1 OCS G15244, which was abandoned in 1996 at a total depth of 20,650 ft. The only previous recovery on the block is about a mile east. Completed in 1997, #JA-2 OCS G15244 was tested flowing 12.59 million cu. ft. of gas, 345 bbl. of condensate and 1 bbl. of water. Cumulative production from Eugene Island Block 159 Field totaled 31.96 billion cu. ft. of gas, 670,740 bbl. of condensate and 379,991 bbl. of water since 1985.

8 Four wells are slated for separate surface locations across the southern half of the nonproducing Green Canyon Block 114 in water depths ranging from 2,626 to 2,750 ft. Shell Offshore Inc. plans two proposed wells to bottom beneath adjacent Block 158 to the south. In 1997, the operator abandoned its #1 OCS G13160, located on Block 114, at total depth of 12,000 ft. Nearest recovery comes from Green Canyon Block 158 Field about three miles south-southeast. Shell’s A platform has yielded 74.06 million bbl. of oil, 108.47 billion cu. ft. of gas and 9.67 million bbl. of water from Pliocene and Miocene since 2001.

9 LLOG Exploration Offshore Inc.’s #1 OCS G28025 is drilling in 3,023 ft. of water in Mississippi Canyon Block 761. The operator purchased the lease at OCS Sale 198 in March 2006 for $6.06 million, and it plans to drill two additional wells on the tract. Mars Field on Mississippi Canyon Block 807 is about five miles southeast. It has produced 797.86 million bbl. of crude and condensate, 1.04 trillion cu. ft. of gas and 40.29 million bbl. of water from 10 tracts since coming onstream in 1996.

10 Shell Oil Co. is drilling with its #1 Olympia Minerals 26 in Bayou San Miguel Field in North Louisiana’s Sabine Parish, Section 26-9n-12w. The nearest well in the field is 0.75 mile northwest. The #1 Boise Southern B-3 was completed in 1976. The well produced 4 bbl. of crude and 4,000 cu. ft. of gas a day through Fredericksburg (Paluxy) perforations at 3,446-50 ft. It yielded 1,023 bbl. of oil and 11.23 million cu. ft. of gas through 1980. Shell permitted its #1 Murray 31 last December as part of Grogan Field about 5.5 miles north-northeast. The company also completed a 14,000-ft. test about 15 miles southwest of its current well. The lone Cotton Valley producer also proved the deepest production in the parish as part of Zwolle Field.

11 Plano, Texas-based Denbury Onshore LLC has scheduled a directional Norphlet test in the southern portion of Mississippi’s Madison County. The #1 Pearl River Valley Authority is in Section 13-8n-3e, and is projected to reach a total depth of 16,500 ft. The company permitted #1 Barksdale 1-7 for the northern portion of Rankin County, about 3.5 miles south, but the permit expired. Norphlet recovery comes from one-well Ophelia Field another 0.66 mile east. Completed in 2004, #1 Barksdale 6-3 flowed 5.73 million cu. ft. a day of gas and yielded a total of 15.83 billion cu. ft. of gas through October 2007. The company’s Goshen Springs Field has yielded 384.46 billion cu. ft. of gas, 1,790 bbl. of condensate and 1.12 million bbl. of water since 1981.

12 The #1 Cook Horton is scheduled to target gas in Lewis sand in Mississippi’s Lee County. Mantachie, Miss.-based Horton Enterprises Inc. will drill the well in the eastern portion of the county in Section 16-9s-7e. Mississippian recovery is more than 11 miles northeast in X-Files Field, which was opened in 2001.
