1 Esenjay Exploration Inc., Houston, reports its #1 Crocker-Perkins, a discovery near Mikeska Field in Texas' Live Oak County, was tested flowing 5 million cu. ft. of gas and 7 bbl. of condensate per day. The 13,450-ft. well, in James A. Wilkinson Survey, A-471, was tested on a 10/64-in. choke from unstimulated Eocene Wilcox. Surface production facilities are being sized to handle up to 15 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Esenjay says the well was drilled in a previously undrilled geopessured fault block on its Mikeska 3-D Seismic Project, which consists of about 8,000 acres in Live Oak County. Esenjay, as operator, owns a 19% working interest in the well. Ocean Energy Inc., Houston, has a 55% working interest. 2 Oligocene Frio at 3,035-44 ft. gave up a flow of 3.081 million cu. ft. of gas per day at a discovery completed by Union Gas Operating Co. in DeWitt County, Texas. The Houston-based company's #1 Floyd Deohrman, Miguel Ortiz Survey, A-42, yielded the flow on a 24/64-in. choke, reports IHS Energy Group. 3 Texas' Matagorda County is the location of the #1 Trull, a Lower Frio discovery completed by Samedan Oil & Gas Corp., Ardmore, Okla., flowing 2.08 million cu. ft. of gas and 354 bbl. of condensate per day. Samedan used a 16/64-in. choke to test between 11,945-13,666 ft. at the well, in George W. Nexsen Survey, A-6. 4 Smith Production Co., Lubbock, recorded a flow of 7.231 million cu. ft. of gas and 78 bbl. of condensate per day at its Eocene Cook Mountain discovery, the #11 Morris "E" in Liberty County, Texas. The well, in Peter Mason Survey, A-69, was tested on a 14/64-in. choke from 10,864-10,952 ft. 5 A Colorado County, Texas, wildcat, which bottomed at about 13,000 ft. in Wilcox, has been completed by Jamex Inc., Dallas, flowing 2 million cu. ft. of gas per day. It's the #1 Frensley Unit in Ransom Weed Survey, A-598. Nearly a mile to the northeast in the same survey, Jamex has cased another indicated Wilcox producer, the #1 Bogatto, to a total depth of 11,408 ft. 6 Daily flow rate was 152 bbl. of oil, 54,000 cu. ft. of gas and 2 bbl. of water at the #1 Arp Gas Unit completed by Barrow-Shaver Resources Co. in Smith County, Texas. The Tyler independent's producer is a Lower Cretaceous Pettet discovery in Thomas C. Williams Survey, A-1018. Pettet, perforated between 8,000-8,156 ft. and at 8,186-98 ft., was tested on a 16/64-in. choke. IHS Energy Group notes the discovery was drilled last summer by Pioneer Natural Resources Inc., Irving, Texas, as a Jurassic test to a total depth of 12,665 ft., with pipe set two ft. off bottom. It's about 2.5 miles north of Pettet production in Good Omen Field. 7 Dallas-based Petro-Hunt LLC's #1 Brownell-Kidd, a discovery in Section 27-12s-12e, Assumption Parish, La., was tested at a daily rate of 10 million cu. ft. of gas and 680 bbl. of condensate, according to 25% working interest owner Southwestern Energy Co., Fayetteville, Ark. A 15/64-in. choke was used to test the Upper Discorbis objective at about 16,950 ft. The well, near Bayou Grosbec Field on Southwestern's North Grosbec Prospect, was drilled to a total depth of 20,180 ft. 8 A new-field discovery in Calcasieu Parish, La.-the #1 Cillingwood Farms in Section 24-9s-12w-flowed gas at a daily rate of 1.811 million cu. ft., with 461 bbl. of condensate and 2 bbl. of water, at completion by St. Mary Operating Co., Denver. IHS Energy Group says the well, tested on a 9/64-in. choke, is producing from Oligocene Hackberry at 8,920-50 ft. Another Calcasieu Parish Hackberry wildcat, this one scheduled to be drilled by Pogo Producing Co., Houston, is the #1 State Lease 15828. It's to be directionally drilled from a surface location in Section 16-10s-13w across the Texas state line to a bottomhole location beneath the Sabine River in Richard Balliew Survey, A-2, Orange County. Measured total depth is to be 11,715 ft. (true vertical depth 10,700 ft.). 9 Union Pacific Resources Co., Fort Worth, has confirmed its 19,270-ft. #1 CL&F gas discovery in Terrebonne Parish, La., by completing the #2 CL&F as a high-volume gas producer. The two wells, both on the company's Etoufee Prospect in Section 7-18s-14e, are each expected to produce at a daily rate of 25 million cu. ft., with condensate. They have confirmed reserves of about 100 billion cu. ft. of gas equivalent, with additional potential still to he tested in deeper sands and an adjacent fault block. The #1 well encountered more than 260 ft. of gross pay starting at 18,500 ft. Few details are reported on the #2 test, which was projected to 21,700 ft., measured depth. 10 A South Thornwell Field well-The Meridian Resource Corp. #1 Parker in Section 28-11s-4w, Jefferson Davis Parish, La.-is producing a sales volume of 10.1 million cu. ft. of gas and 480 bbl. of oil per day on a 15/64-in. choke. There are several sets of perforations between 11,693-11,820 ft. in Bolivina Perca. Houston-based Meridian says Manti Operating Co., Corpus Christi, drilled the well and turned it over to Meridian for production. 11 The Gulf of Mexico's West Cameron area is the site of a discovery completed on Block 300 by Chieftain International Inc., Edmonton, flowing 10.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 35 bbl. of condensate per day. Chieftain reports the #1 OCS-G-15078 was drilled to a total of 9,000 ft., encountering more than 45 ft. of gas pay in multiple zones, and tested on a 24/64-in. choke. Chieftain, as operator, has a 35% working interest in the well, in 48 ft. of water. 12 Forest Oil Corp., Denver, owns a 65% working interest in the #2 OCS-G-9651, a South Pelto Field well completed by Walter Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, on South Pelto Block 6 flowing 15.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 460 bbl. of condensate per day. Forest reports the well was drilled to a total depth of 14,642 ft. (true vertical depth) and logged an estimated 47 net ft. (true vertical depth) of pay in Big "B" Channel Sand. Testing was carried out on an 18/64-in. choke. 13 Mariner Energy Inc., Houston, and Pioneer Natural Resources Co., each with a 25% working interest in the Elf Exploration Inc.-operated #2 OCS-G-19935 on Mississippi Canyon Block 305, report the 14,113-ft. well encountered more than 250 net ft. of gas pay. Houston-based Elf International, owner of the remaining 50% working interest, drilled the well in about 7,000 ft. of water. Mariner and Pioneer say the appraisal well confirms that the reservoirs found in the 14,000-ft. #1 discovery extend approximately 2 miles to the northeast. 14 Up to five wildcats are scheduled to be drilled by Petrobras America Inc., Houston, in 1,700-1,800 ft. of water on East Breaks Block 237. Three of the tests are to drilled near the center of the block, with another two in the eastern half. IHS Energy Group reports the only production in the area is about 17 miles to the northeast at East Breaks Block 109 Field, which has been online since the mid-1980s. The field is made up of 17 wells on three blocks-109, 110 and 154. 15 A new reservoir in Lower Cretaceous Hosston was established in Mississippi's Prentiss Dome Field when Miller Exploration Co., Houston, tested an initial flow rate of approximately 3.3 million cu. ft. of gas and 531 bbl. of condensate per day. The Southeastern Oil Review says the new-pay discovery is a recompletion of the #1 Rankin in Section 26-7n-19w, Jefferson Davis County. Miller perforated at 15,890-15,918 ft. and tested on a 5/64-in. choke. The well was originally completed by Amerada Hess Corp., New York City, producing from Hosston between 16,444-16,765 ft. 16 Recent activity in Jones County, Miss., includes a wildcat where pipe is set and a development well with a high-volume flow of oil, reports the Southeastern Oil Review. EOG Resources Inc., Houston, set pipe to evaluate shows logged in Hosston at the wildcat, the 16,515-ft. #1 Marian Walker in Section 6-7n-10w in the Camp Creek area. The development well, the #2 Allar Co. 32-6, is on the north flank of Parker Creek Field in Section 32-7n-13w. Roundtree & Associates Inc., Jackson, gauged a flow of oil at the rate of 1,086 bbl. per day on a 20/64-in. choke from 14,198-14,316 ft. in Hosston.
