The wildcat is scheduled to reach 14,000 ft., 9,000 ft. true vertical, and no target has been specified by the Jena, La.-based company. The venture would be the deepest well in this part of Sabine Parish. Offsetting the proposed #1 Zap Minerals to the northwest is #1 Pickering Lumber Co, which was drilled in 1946.

5 A horizontal Eagle Ford shale discovery was reported in Rapides Parish, La., by IHS Inc. Indigo II Louisiana Operating LLC’s #1 Bentley Lumber 34H flowed 543 bbl. of oil equivalent (80% oil) per day. The Houston-based company completed a 15-stage fracture stimulation of an undisclosed producing interval. The discovery is in Section 34-5n-5w and was drilled to 15,050 ft., 10,649 ft. true vertical. The lateral bottomed to the north beneath Section 27. According to Indigo, the well was successfully drilled without using an intermediate casing string through the shale. Oil is currently being trucked to sales and the gas is temporarily being flared. Indigo holds almost 260,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford play in Louisana.

6 A horizontal Austin Chalk completion by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has re-established production in Lou isiana’s Lacour Field in Pointe Coupee Parish. The #1 Lacour 43 flowed 3,000 bbl. of oil, 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 600 bbl. of water per day from Austin Chalk perforations at 14,955-21,920 ft. Gauged on a 20/64-in. choke, the flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 3,800 psi and 4,900 psi, respectively. Most land in the U.S. is divided into townships—rectangular tracts six miles square. The township, in turn, is divided into 36 numbered sections, each a one-mile square. The lines running north-south and dividing east from west are called range lines. The lines running east-west and dividing north from south are township lines.

A well in Section 15-Township 4 north-Range 3 east is abbreviated: 15-4n-3e.
