4 Production is scheduled to begin soon from two recent offshore-Calhoun County (RRC Dist. 2), Texas, completions by Houston-based Sonterra Resources Inc. The #1(ST) Matagorda Bay State Tract 150-1 Unit was drilled to a total depth of 10,246 ft. in December 2008 and was successfully cased and cemented. Well log analysis indicated multiple gas and condensate pay zones in the Bolmex formation between 9,300 and 10,000 ft. The state waters well was tested at a daily rate of 785,000 cu. ft. of gas, 120 bbl. of condensate and 67 bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was 3,600 psi on an 8/64-in. choke. Sonterra expects to bring the well on line in the next few weeks. A second Matagorda Bay well scheduled for production is #1 State Tract 127-1 Unit. Drilled to a total depth of 12,464 ft., well logs indicate multiple gas and oil pays in the Bolmex and Nodosaria-1 formations at depths between 8,500 and 11,700 ft. Sonterra’s Matagorda Bay properties are being developed in partnership with STO Operating Co., a subsidiary of San Antonio-based South Texas Oil Co.

5 BP America Production Co. recompleted a directional Tuscaloosa well in Judge Digby Field in central Pointe Coupee Parish, La. BP’s #3 J. Wurtele et al was tested flowing 3.1 million cu. ft. of gas and 44 bbl. of water daily through perforations at 20,482-92 ft. The recompleted producer was drilled to 21,745 ft. and is located in irregular Section 49-5s-9e. IHS Inc. reported that the flowing tubing pressure was 527 psi and the shut-in tubing pressure was 2,000 psi. BP, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, completed the original hole in 2002 and through 2007 it produced 40.6 billion cu. ft. of gas, 23,952 bbl. of condensate and 513,255 bbl. of water.

6 Vancouver, B.C.-based Probe Resources?is reporting commercial gas reserves at its South Timbalier Block 214 #A-6 Sidetrack No. 1 well. The well was drilled to 15,825 ft. (14,751 ft. true vertical depth). Probe reached the primary objective in the Bulminella 1 formation and logged 88 ft. of net pay. The anticipated gross production rate from the formation is 25- to 35 million cu. ft. per day. The well was drilled from a Probe-owned production platform in South Timbalier Block 198 that is located in 129 ft. of water. Probe is the operator and holds a 100% working interest and 70% net interest in the well.
