Nii Ahele Nunoo, senior associate with the energy core operations group at KPMG, is today’s featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Before his role at KPMG, Nunoo held various positions at NOV with the wellbore technology division.
“I had the opportunity to work for National Oilwell Varco as an electrical engineering designer designing downhole dynamic drilling tools for their closed-loop automation system,” he said. “I thought it was an exciting way to start my career, and so I went for it.”
Nunoo’s oilfield career started in 2012 designing and qualifying electronics on projects for high shock, high pressure and high-temperature downhole tool applications. His primary focus and expertise was downhole drilling tools for closed-loop automation.
“Transitioning from engineering to the field in two years, my perseverance and inquisitive nature of understanding the upstream value chain pushed me to ask management to place me in positions that will harness my engineering tool kit and provide value to operations,” he said.
“Getting the opportunity to work with field engineers in North Dakota, understand their day-to-day challenges, drill wells during the cold winters, and still have the right attitude towards work is something I will not forget,” he added.
At KPMG, Nunoo’s primary responsibility is to develop and test actionable insights derived from data and provide expertise on the broad understanding of the energy value chain. He also recommends and advises clients on technical and financial recommendations that establish a trusted adviser relationship.
