?1 Denver-based Aspect Energy LLC has reached total depth at its #1H Robert Greer et al. along the Ouachita Fold Belt just south of the Fort Worth Basin. The 9,500-ft. venture was drilled in the C.M. Hubby Survey, A-445 (RRC District 6). The nearest previous drilling is approximately a mile southeast in the Thomas H. Barron Survey, A-129. The #1 V.W. Cooper was abandoned in 1933 at a total depth of 438 ft. The first Barnett shale test permitted in McLennan County is about eight miles northeast of the current drillsite. The nearest recovery to the current well is more than eight miles southeast in Bosque South Field. This Walnut reservoir has yielded 231,289 bbl. of crude, 4.67 million cu. ft. of gas and 5,437 bbl. of water since 1930.

2 A southern Newton County, Texas, well was production-tested by Spring, Texas-based Smith Production Co. The #1 Hankamer Foundation A is in RRC District 3, Sherley Goodwin Survey, A-5, more than 20 miles south of the town of Newton. The apparent Wilcox discovery flowed 118,000 cu. ft. of gas, 39 bbl. of condensate and 149 bbl. of water per day from perforations at 11,710-20 ft. The nearest producing well is in Sabine Tram Southwest Field about a mile west-southwest. Wilcox production from this field totals 3.11 million bbl. of crude and condensate, 13.1 billion cu. ft. of gas and 8.4 million bbl. of water since its discovery in 1981, reports IHS Inc.

3 Houston-based Lucas Energy Inc. reports that its #1 Cone-Bubose Unit well yielded an initial 100 bbl. of oil per day, but has now stabilized at 65 bbl. per day. The producer is the fifth in a 10-well program being conducted near Christian Field, Sarah Hendricks Survey, A-261, Gonzales County, Texas (RRC District 1). The 300-acre property offsets the Hagen Ranch development area, and was acquired in December 2007. The well was originally drilled in 1991 with an initial production rate of 1,123 bbl. of oil and 547,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. It was shut-in in 1998 after producing a total of 60,789 bbl. of oil.

4 A Vicksburg discovery has been completed by Houston-based Drillmar Operating Co. some four miles northwest of the town of Woodsboro in Refugio County (RRC District 2). The #1 Rooke Ranch is in the John James Survey, A-39. It was tested with an initial daily potential of 777,000 cu. ft. of gas, 12 bbl. of condensate and one bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 2,312 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. The #13 J.F. Welder Heirs produces from a comparable depth about 2.25 miles southwest. Completed in 1982, the Frio producer yielded 53,007 bbl. of oil, 95.9 million cu. ft. of gas and 72,139 bbl. of water through 1985. Nearby Devils Run Field produced a cumulative 6.56 billion cu. ft. of gas, 1.01 million bbl. of crude and condensate, and 1.25 million bbl. of water from Frio.

5 San Antonio-based Republic Resources LLC completed #2 Angelita Unit in the J. Hart & Sons Survey, A-10, San Patricio County, Texas, at a total depth of 7,800 ft. The well is producing from perforations between 6,922–24 ft. at a rate of 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 20 bbl. of condensate on a 7.5/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 1900 psi. Additional drilling is planned.

6 Houston-based Newfield Exploration Co. has scheduled a directional test in northern Kenedy County (RRC District 4) about 30 miles southeast of Kingsville, Texas. The #1 John F. Kenedy Jr. is slated to reach a total depth of 21,000 ft. in the Alvino & Domingo de la Garza Survey, A-37. A similar test was completed in 2005 approximately 3.25 miles west. The #41 J.G. Kenedy Jr. “J” was tested flowing 13.27 million cu. ft. of gas and 133 bbl. of condensate per day from Frio. It has recovered more than 2.93 billion cu. ft. of gas as part of El Paistle Deep Field, which has produced 296.48 billion cu. ft. of gas, 80,903 bbl. of condensate and 2.12 million bbl. of water since 1964.

7 Four wells have been scheduled by Maritech Resources Inc. on Galveston Block 321. The Woodlands, Texas-based company will drill all four wells from the existing “A” platform in 68 ft. of water. Combined anticipated flow rates are 20 million cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of condensate per day. Nearby Block 288 Field produced a cumulative 667 billion cu. ft. of gas, 15.9 million bbl. of condensate and 19.2 million bbl. of water between 1965 and 2002.

8 Energy XXI (Bermuda) Ltd., Houston, has reached an agreement with New Orleans-based operator McMoRan Exploration Co. to earn a 20% working interest in five blocks encompassing Blackbeard West prospect in South Timbalier Block 168. The original #1 Blackbeard West is in 70 ft. of water offshore Louisiana. It was drilled to 30,067 ft. by ExxonMobil Corp. and Newfield Exploration Co. and temporarily abandoned. McMoRan resumed operations in March with plans to deepen the well to a total 31,267 ft. to evaluate Miocene targets. The agreement will give Energy XXI a proportional share in 81 additional blocks covering about 425,000 gross acres associated with the ultradeep trend.

9 The Minerals Management Service has approved development plans for the Cascade-Chinook oil and gas project in the Walker Ridge area of the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 165 miles offshore Louisiana in 8,200 ft. of water. Brazilian firm Petrobras America Inc. will operate what is to be the first project developed in the Gulf using a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The three-tract project calls for one well to be drilled on each of blocks 206, 249 and 469. First recovery from the field is expected in November 2009.

10 Houston-based ATP Oil & Gas Corp. reports that it has participated in two successful wells in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Operator Newfield Exploration Co. found 80 ft. of net oil pay at its Gladden prospect in 3,116 ft. of water on Mississippi Canyon Block 800. Although #1 OCS G18292 was expected to be completed in May, further results of that well have not yet been announced. Nearly five miles northwest of the Gladden well, ATP also took part in the Anduin West discovery on Block 754. With Newfield as operator, #SS3 OCS G24104 encountered 30 ft. of net gas pay in about 2,696 ft. of water. No completion details have been reported for this well.

11 A 5,850-ft. wildcat has been slated by Jena, La.-based Windham Oil Corp. more than five miles east of the town of Pollack in southeastern Grant Parish. Plans call for #1 Foster to target the Wilcox in Section 6-6n-2e. The nearest recovery to the proposed site is in Catahoula Lake West Field about three miles northeast. There, #148 Bodcaw Fee LLS was tested in 1976 flowing 14 bbl. of 40-gravity oil per day from Wilcox at 4,053-54 ft. The well yielded 3,027 bbl. and a similar amount of water through 1980. Additional recovery in the field is another five miles east.

12 Houston-based Yuma Exploration Production Co. Inc. completed two South Louisiana wells in Lake Campo Field on its Cavier prospect in northern Plaquemines Parish. The #1 State Lease 18654 is in Section 2-17s-15e. It was tested flowing 4.2 million cu. ft. of gas, five bbl. of condensate and 120 bbl. of water daily from Cibicides Carstensi. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 2,881 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. The #3 State Lease 18654 is north of the same section. The second well flowed 4.3 million cu. ft. of gas, 12 bbl. of condensate and 55 bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was 3,622 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. Both wells were drilled in an attempt to restore production from the reservoir. Lake Campo Field was online from 1959 until 2005 and yielded a total of 42.1 billion cu. ft. of gas, 1.94 million bbl. of oil and condensate, and 16.56 million bbl. of water from Miocene, according to IHS Inc.
