1 Houston-based GeoMet Inc. has reached total depth at its
#3 Fallin 30-07 in the central portion of Alabama’s Blount County, where fewer than 30 tests have been drilled to date. The 3,705-ft. test is targeting Chattanooga shale in Section 30-12s-1e. The operator’s #30-03-02 Wittmeier was tested in December about 0.33 mile northwest. Initial daily potential for the well was 566,000 cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water through an openhole interval in the Paleozoic. Last fall, the operator completed a Paleozoic discovery another 0.5 mile northeast. The #1 Wittmeier
19-15 produced 74,600 cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water per day.

LLC tested its #1 Logan 5-7 with an initial daily rate of 21 bbl. of oil, with 57 bbl. of water. The well is in Section 5-3n-13e. It is producing through acid-treated perforations between 11,820-23 ft.
Conecuh County’s Little Cedar Creek Field is seven miles north-northwest. Opened in 1994, this field produces from Smackover.

3 Traverse City, Mich.-based West Bay Exploration Co. will target Trenton and Black River oil zones in southern Michigan approximately five miles northeast of the town of Marshall. It will be drilled within a mile of the company’s #1-34 Langridge, a discovery that was completed producing 55 bbl. of oil and 75,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with no water. The operator is also developing Trenton oil reserves around Rice Creek Field, approximately two miles southeast, reports IHS Inc.

4 Three 3,600-ft. wildcats have been scheduled for Michigan’s Hillsdale County. Jordan Development Co. LLC, Traverse City, plans to target Trenton-Black River with its #10-34 Young in Section 34-7s-5w. The proposed well is in Algansee Township, Section 34, about 5.4 miles northwest of Montgomery, Mich. Reading Field produces from Trenton approximately 5.6 miles west. The northwestern Illinois Basin project is in Section 12-14n-5w. Set up as a 6,700-ft. test, the well will be drilled approximately
2.5 miles north of an isolated discovery completed in 1955. One-well Glenarm Field was opened by #1 J.
Warrington, which initially tested pumping 11 bbl. of oil and 15 bbl. of water daily from an openhole Silurian section from 1,683-92 ft. Gas production from New Albany has only been reported at five wells in Illinois; the nearest lies nearly 80 miles east in Coles County. In 2005, #1-34 Litteken et al. flowed 14,000 cu. ft. of gas and 161 bbl. of water per day in a fractured interval through perforations at 895 and 905 ft.
