Ankor Holding Corp.'s #1 APC Craft-Blackstone 13-16 discovery flowed 278 bbl. of 47-degreegravity oil and 468,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. Tested on a 10/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 2,092 psi with a gas-to-oil ratio of 1,690 to 1. The West Appleton area well was drilled to 13,944 ft. in Section 18-3n-9e of Escambia County, Ala., and production comes from Smackover perforations at 13,583—13,616 ft. Ankor Holding is based in New Orleans.

6. Breitburn Operating LP of Los Angeles completed two apparent Emery Lake Field producers in Osceola County, Mich. The #3-33 State Sherman is in Section 33-20-9. It was drilled to 10,835 ft. and targeted pays in Glenwood. About one mile to the northeast in Section 33, Breitburn drilled a lateral out of a directional well, #2-33A State Sherman & Allen, originally drilled in 1997. Breitburn has set casing to 10,629 ft. According to IHS Inc., the hole was originally drilled by CMS Nomeco Oil & Gas to a total depth of 11,630 ft., 10,731 ft. true vertical, and apparent production is from Prairie du Chien at 11,109-11,224 ft. Additional details are not available.

7. Encana Oil & Gas Inc. of Calgary has scheduled more drilling in Michigan's Utica/Collingwood shale play. The Calgary-based company's #1-1 State Oliver is planned for Section 1-26n-6w, Kalkaska County, Mich., and will be drilled to a total depth of 9,600 ft. About three miles northwest in Section 24-27n-6w, #1-24 State Excelsior, an exploratory test, is slated to reach 9,050 ft. Encana's #1-3 HD1 State, the first well in the Utica/Collingwood Shale play, was completed last year in nearby Missaukee County.

8. In Ogemaw County, Mich., Breitburn Operating LP has scheduled a Prairie du Chien development test in Rose City Field. The #4A-28 State Foster is planned for a total depth of 11,100 ft. in Section 28-24n-2e near the northern edge of Rose City Field. Offsetting the planned venture is a 4,209-ft. oil well drilled in 1951, #5-E State Foster, which produced from an open-hole Monroe interval at 4,098-4,209 ft. In 2010, Breitburn completed #1A-27 State Rose to a total depth of 10,955 ft. in the northwest part of Section 27: well production through February totaled 8,605 bbl. of crude and production comes from perforations in Prairie du Chien at 10,845-10,862 ft. Most land in the U.S. is divided into townships—rectangular tracts six miles square. The township, in turn, is divided into 36 numbered sections, each a one-mile square. The lines running north-south and dividing east from west are called range lines. The lines running east-west and dividing north from south are township lines.

A well in Section 15-Township 4 north-Range 3 east is abbreviated: 15-4n-3e.
