Maunie North Consolidated Field produces from shallower Pennsylvanian pays and multiple Mississippian pays. The deepest wells in the field produce oil from Ullin (Mississippian) at 3,950 ft. In 2010, Campbell Energy's #1 Jessica A. Lauren in Section 30-5s-14w reached 3,170 ft. in Fredonia Lime. On test it flowed an unreported amount of oil through Mississippian perforations.

3 A Wabash County, Ill., Silurian test by Beard Drilling Inc. has been staked in Section 23-1s-14w. The #1 Christine is a 5,400-ft. deep-pool test in Lexington Field. Nearby completions include #1 Lawrence Pfeister, which was abandoned 60 years ago at a total depth of 3,045 ft., and #1 Emma Leitch, which was completed in 1951 as a 3,004-ft. oil producer. Two miles south of Beard Drilling's new location is #1 C. Raber, a 2,989-ft. test abandoned in 1947. The venture was deepened in 1982 to 5,032 ft. in Clear Creek. The Lexington Field well, renamed #1 Raber Heirs, was tested pumping 5 bbl. of oil and 10 bbl. of water per day through Dutch Creek (Devonian) perforations at 4,912-18 ft. First production from Lexington Field was reported in 1947 with the bulk of the field's output from several Mississippian pay zones. Beard Drilling is based in Mt. Carmel, Ill.

4 A deeper-pool test has been permitted by Angel Rose Energy LLC in Westfield Field in Clark County, Ill. The Glasgow, Ky.-based company's proposed exploratory test, #1-ARI, will be drilled in Section 20-11n-14w, with a proposed depth of 3,999 ft., targeting deeper pays in Knox. The proposed venture is surrounded by shallow oil wells in Westfield Field. One mile northwest is a 2,515-ft. Trenton oil well, #4-R Huisinga, that was tested in 1985 pumping 10 bbl. of crude and 30 bbl. of water per day through perforations at 2,343-66 ft. First production in Westfield Field was reported in the late 1940s. The deepest wells in the field yield crude from Trenton at about 2,500 ft.

5 A Paleozoic exploratory test is planned by Mayne & Mertz Inc. for Baldwin County, Ala., about five miles south of a 15,212-ft. Paleozoic test abandoned by the operator in 2010. The Houston-based company's #1 Reynolds 13-12 is planned for Section 14-3n-4e; the proposed total depth was not disclosed. About one mile west is a Smack-over oil producer that was shut down in 1999. The Horseneck Creek Field well, #1 Furrh 15-15, pumped 154,148 bbl. of crude from perforations at 15,270-88 ft. The completion's total depth is 15,654 ft. To the southwest is a Pruet Production Co. 2011 Smackover discovery, #1 Matthews Trust 27-4, that was tested flowing 129 bbl. of crude and 49,000 cu. ft. of gas per day through acidized perforations at 15,533-15,551 ft.

6 A Smackover well by Jackson, Miss.-based Pruet Production Co. was completed in Conecuh County, Ala. The #1 Booth & Casey 29-8, in Section 29-4n-13e, flowed 197 bbl. of oil and 199,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. Tested on an 18/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 150 psi with a gas-to-oil ratio of 1,012 to 1. Drilled to 11,775 ft., it produces from Smackover perforations at 11,830-95 ft. No formation water was reported.

7 On the south flank of a southerly extension of Little Cedar Creek Field, Pruet Production Co. completed a Smackover producer. Located in Section 28-4n-13e of Conecuh County, Ala., #1 Cedar Creek Land & Timber 28-13 pumped 361 bbl. of oil and 366,000 cu. ft. of gas per day with no reported formation water. Smackover production came from perforations at 11,415-28 ft. after drilling to a total depth of 11,755 ft. Gauged on a 14/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 880 psi and the gas-to-oil ratio was 951 to 1.

8 Ranch Production Co. has scheduled a 4,000-ft. exploratory test on the banks of Lake Michigan in Oceana County, Mich. According to IHS Inc., #1-8 Longcore is slated for Section 8-15n-18w, and the vertical test targets oil pays in Salina. If the test reaches its 4,000-ft. objective, the company's venture would be the deepest test in this part of the county. Most of the previous tests drilled in the area reached depths of 1,000-2,500 ft. The nearest oil production in this part of Oceana County is to the south in Mears Field, which came online in 1949. Reservoir output comes from Traverse at 1,700 ft. and Dundee at around 2,200 ft. Ranch Production's headquarters are in Pentwater, Mich.

9 A vertical Trenton/Black River wildcat is planned by

Most land in the U.S. is divided into townships—rectangular tracts six miles square. The township, in turn, is divided into 36 numbered sections, each a one-mile square. The lines running north-south and dividing east from west are called range lines. The lines running east-west and dividing north from south are township lines.

A well in Section 15-Township 4 north-Range 3 east is abbreviated: 15-4n-3e.
