Battalion Oil Corp. appointed Kevin Andrews, previously an investment banker with Imperial Capital, to serve as its CFO, the Houston-based independent E&P said in an Aug. 19 release.

Rich Little, CEO of Battalion, said the addition of Andrews better positions the company to take advantages of growth opportunities due to his background in M&A. Andrews most recently served as managing director and head of energy investment banking at Imperial Capital. 

“Kevin brings to Battalion a substantial track record in M&A, which will serve us well as we continue to evaluate responsible, accretive growth through consolidation,” Little said in a statement. “With the momentum we have achieved so far, I am pleased to leverage our strengths as a company in further pursuit of transformational change.”

Battalion is focused on the acquisition, production, exploration and development of onshore oil and natural gas properties in the U.S. The company, which changed its name from Halcón Resources earlier this year, currently holds a position of liquids-rich assets in the Delaware Basin of the Permian, according to its website.

During his career in investment banking, Andrews also previously worked at Wunderlich Securities, Pritchard Capital Partners and Morgan Keegan. Prior to investment banking, he was CFO of Denali Inc. and financial manager at both Moorco International and Envirotech, a Baker Hughes subsidiary. He began his career at Coopers & Lybrand.

Andrews’ appointment as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of Battalion took effect Aug. 17. He replaces Ragan Altizer, who plans to retire from the oil and gas industry, according to the company release.

Commenting on Altizer’s retirement, Little said: “Ragan has played an instrumental role in the transformational change that has occurred at Battalion and we could not have accomplished this without him. His unwavering leadership and friendship have been greatly appreciated, and while his presence will be missed at Battalion, we wish him well as he enters an exciting phase in his life.”
