I'm Jaxon Caines, technology reporter, and this is Hart Energy LIVE's E&P Tech Trends.
JC: Cementing is a small part of Universal, but we know that's growing right now. Is it the product you guys are putting out? Is it the process you're using? What's causing that?
Deepak Khatri, director of cementing, Universal: Great question. It's a combination of things. Let me start with HSE [health, safety and environment]. So our team, our crews both in the north as well as in the south, have provided an excellent service to our customers considering health, safety, and environment. And built on that, we have also delivered service delivery for our customers in a way that the customers want us to come back and provide services.
And it would only be natural for us to leverage the capabilities of drilling the MS and our other colleagues so that we are able to provide a package and go to our customers.
JC: What does the future sort of hold for Universal in the cementing aspect of your company?
DK: We want to make sure that we are also leading in the industry in terms of automation and at the same time finding some solutions which are for this environment today and the generation tomorrow.
What I mean by that is lower CO2 emitting cement. Can we find it? Yes. Can we implement it? Yes. What are we doing today? We are trying to work with our customers, our suppliers and collaborate with them so that we can deliver low carbon cement systems more effectively for our customers.
And that's Hart Energy LIVE's E&P Tech Trends with me, Jaxon Caines. Every Tuesday, we'll drill into the tech that fuels the oil patch.
