Drilling Activity Summary

Description

The Woodlands, Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp. announced that it hit Pliocene oil pay at the first appraisal test of the company’s 2013 Phobos discovery. The #2 OCS G27779 is on Sigsbee Escarpment Block 39 and encountered more than 90 net ft of high-quality oil pay in a reservoir similar to the nearby Lucius Field. According to the company, the secondary accumulation was present in the Phobos discovery well and will be evaluated for tieback to the Lucius facility on Keathley Canyon Block 875. Anadarko is drilling ahead to the primary objective in Lower Tertiary-aged reservoirs. The 2013 Phobos find was the first-ever oil discovery in the Sigsbee Escarpment area. Drilled to 28,675 ft, #1 (BP2) OCS G27779 encountered about 250 net ft of high-quality oil pay in Lower Tertiary-aged reservoirs.
