Zion Oil & Gas Inc. (NasdaqGM: ZN) performed re-entry operations on its Elijah #3 well located in the Asher-Menashe license, the company said Jan. 8. Re-entry operations began Jan. 5, the company added. Zion is exploring whether Elijah #3 hit a hydrocarbon reservoir, the company said.
The well was perforated and stimulated for a production test, and a drill stem test focused on hydrocarbons will be performed, the company added. The Elijah #3’s key zone is roughly 7,320 -7,390 feet total depth, the company said.
Depending on the drill stem test’s outcome, Zion will discuss future Asher-Menashe developments with the country’s Petroleum Commissioner, the company said.
Zion’s Asher-Menashe assets near Caesarea span 79,000 acres. Most recently, it gained roughly 99,000 acres in the Megiddo-Jezreel license, the company said. In total it holds roughly 234,000 acres in licenses across Israel, the company added.
