A Woodford discovery by Tulsa-based Newfield Exploration Co. initially flowed 2.075 Mbbl of 47-degree-gravity oil, 2.83 MMcf of gas and 801 bbl of water per day. The extended-reach horizontal well, #1H-5XX Hays, is in Section 20-2n-3w, Garvin County, Okla. It was drilled to 23,810 ft northward across sections 17 and 8 and bottomed in Section 5-2n-3w. It was tested following acidizing and fracturing at 12,601-23,667 ft. Gauged on a 64/64-in. choke, the shut-in tubing pressure was 1,450 psi and the flowing tubing pressure was 647 psi. Newfield is based in Houston.
