Warren Resources Inc. (NasdaqGS: WRES) appointed Saema Somalya to its management team as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, the company said Feb. 18.

Somalya joins Warren with several years’ experience in corporate and securities practices, at Davis Polk &Wardwell LLP and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, the company said. Most recently, she was senior legal director and corporate counsel for PepsiCo Inc., which she joined in 2009, the company added.

Her experience in corporate development and securities law, which includes management of sophisticated merger transactions and capital raising activities, is particularly well-suited to Warren's strategy to optimize our current asset base and seek out new areas of expansion," said Philip Epstein, CEO.

Somalya has a law degree from Yale, as well as a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale, the company said.

New York-based Warren Resources Inc. explores, develops and produces oil and natural gas in California’s Wilmington field and Wyoming’s Washakie Basin, respectively.
