The industry has discussed using stranded well site gas as an environmental and economic solution to powering operations on location. Stranded gas has numerous applications including the creation of centralized microgrids to power all industrial activity on location, which reduces truck traffic, simplifies maintenance, and reduces overall costs. David Dickert, head of oil and gas at Aggreko Americas, also outlines how to solve oil field challenges to the use of stranded gas by calibrating widely divergent power generating equipment to the varied composition of wellhead gas. Dickert also discusses solutions that capture and strip out natural gas liquids in wet gas and can be used to reduce flaring, providing operators a revenue uplift at the well site.
