John D. Thaeler, COO of Vitruvian Exploration II LLC, recently discussed the company's operations in Oklahoma's Scoop play. From Vitruvian's offices in The Woodlands, Texas, Thaeler said the Woodford Shale's high silica content gives the rock a desired brittleness. They are "easy and effective to frack. In addition to the composition, we're overpressured." Overpressuring creates "more reservoir storage and higher deliverabilities in our producing wells. If you take those together, you end up with the best part of the Scoop play in the core of the core."
