Description
Dallas-based Ventex Operating Corp. is under way at a Clarke County, Ala., test in an attempt to reopen Barlow Bend Field. The #1 Craft-Goodwin 17-13 is in Section 17-6n-5e and no proposed total depth has been disclosed for the apparent Smackover venture. In 1996, an offsetting 14,000-ft Smackover wildcat was permitted at #1 Fred Goodwin Heirs 17-13, but was never drilled. Nearby Smackover production is to the northwest in the one-well Barlow Bend Field at #1 Henry Gibby Unit 7-15 in Section 7-6n-5e. It was tested in 1986 flowing 838 bbl of crude, 652 Mcf of gas and 264 bbl of water per day from 12,740-58 ft. To the north, Ventex permitted another Clarke County wildcat at #1 Craft-Dean 5-4, which is targeting Norphlet. The directional well has a planned depth of 13,000 ft and is in Section 5-7n-5e.
