Steven C. Dixon will replace Tom L. Ward as the CEO of Tapstone Energy, effective Jan. 1, 2017, the company said Dec. 20.
Most recently, Dixon was executive vice president of operations and geosciences, and the COO, of Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK).
Dixon has more than 36 years’ industry experience, and oversaw the largest drilling program in the world while at Chesapeake.
Ward, who founded Tapstone and SandRidge Energy Inc. (NYSE: SD) and co-founded Chesapeake, will maintain a large ownership stake in Tapstone, and will focus efforts on a new venture to be based in Oklahoma City.
