Chesapeake Oilfield Operating LLC, which does business as Seventy Seven Energy, appointed Karl Blanchard as its COO, the company said June 12.

Most recently, Blanchard was vice president of production enhancement for Halliburton Co. (NYSE: HAL), said Seventy Seven Energy, which recently spun off from Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK). Blanchard had worked for Halliburton since 1981, the company added.

“Karl is a great addition to the existing management team at Seventy Seven Energy,” CEO Jerry Winchester said.

“With his extensive background in the oilfield services industry, Karl is a perfect fit as we become a stand-alone company,” Winchester added.

Blanchard has a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Texas A&M University and is member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the company said.
