Drilling Activity Summary

Description

According to Tokyo-based Inpex, the company discovered an offshore gas field in the Sea of Japan. The field is about 135 km west of Japan's Shimane and Yamaguchi Prefectures. Exploration well #26-28 Heisei 26-28 was drilled to 2,900 m in approximately 210 m of water. A thin gas reservoir in a shallow zone was encountered, as well as some gas indications in deeper zones, along with strong gas indications suggesting the presence of a high pressure gas column in the deepest zone. No drilling has occurred in the area since the 1980s. Additional analysis and evaluation is planned.
