Canada’s Saturn Minerals Inc. applied to change its name to Saturn Oil + Gas Inc. to reflect its changed focus to acquisition and development of Alberta and Saskatchewan oil and natural gas assets.
The board of directors approved the name change on Nov. 1, the company said Nov. 2.
Additionally, John Jeffrey, Scott Newman and Justin Kaufmann joined the executive team as part of the shift in focus, the company said. Jeffrey is CEO; Newman is COO; and Kaufmann is vice president of exploration.
Currently, Jeffrey is a finance manager for an engineering consulting firm in Canada, and is also a partner and CFO of geological consulting company Axiom Exploration Ltd.
Jeffrey earned a degree and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Currently, Newman is vice president of exploration at Vela Resources Corp., and is also the president and founding partner of Axiom Exploration Ltd.
Previously, Newman was the senior project geologist for a rare earth exploration company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. He also has been an officer or adviser for many private and public resource exploration companies.
Newman graduated from the University of Saskatchewan.
Kaufmann is the vice president and co-founder of Axiom Exploration Ltd. Previously, he was the principal geologist for Geometric Consulting wellsite supervision company.
Kaufmann graduated from the University of Saskatchewan.
