RockPile Energy Services LLC said Sept. 15 it acquired American Well Service LLP, a workover rig company based in the Williston Basin, for an undisclosed amount.

The deal doubles RockPile's workover rigs in the Williston Basin, giving the company 12 rigs servicing the Bakken Shale and an operational presence in both the Northern and Southern portions of the basin.

The acquisition marks RockPile's first deal after being acquired by White Deer Energy on Sept. 8. Denver-based RockPile was a subsidiary of Triangle Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: TPLM), which filed for chapter 11 in June.

Based in Kenmare, N.D., American Well Service was founded in 2012 by a group of industry veterans. The company has since grown to 60 employees and currently provides both 24-hour and 12-hour cleanout and well intervention service operations.

Additionally, American Well Service's existing blue chip client base and ability to perform complex, 24-hour operations further bolster RockPile's current rig business, according to the release.
