QEP Resources Inc. (NYSE: QEP) appointed William L. Thacker to its board of directors, the company said Feb. 24. Thacker will help QEP Resources split its midstream business, QEP Field Services Co., from the company, QEP Resources said. QEP Resources noted that its ownership of QEP Midstream Partners LP will also be split from the company.

Thacker has served as director on other public midstream companies' boards, the company said. These include the board of Copano Energy LLC, as nonexecutive chairman, from 2009-2013, the company said. Thacker had been CEO of Teppco Partners LP, and had also been chairman of Pacific Energy Management LLC’s special committee during its 2006 sale to Plains All American Pipeline LP (NYSE: PAA), the company added.

“We are pleased to welcome Bill and the deep and complementary expertise he brings to the board as we pursue the separation of our midstream business in a continuation of our work to enhance the value of the company for all of its shareholders,” said Chuck Stanley, chairman, president and CEO of QEP.
