Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Lawrenceville, Ill.-based Pioneer Oil Co. plans to re-enter a south-central Illinois wildcat that was drilled to 5,750 ft and abandoned by the company earlier in 2016. In Section 5-4s-1e of Jefferson County’s Tamaroa Field, #1-5 Kabat-Stanfield will be deepened to 6,000 ft to target Potosi. MKE Producing Inc. has been conducting a drilling program in the area over the past few years. Two miles to the east, in Section 3, MKE’s #2 Scheller was abandoned in 2013 at 4,580 ft in Devonian. Some oil and gas shows were encountered at an unreported depth. Also in 2013, #3 Scheller reached a depth of 3,943 ft in Borden. In 2016, MKE permitted #13 Trader in Section 9, a 3,800-ft exploratory test targeting Fort Payne, and #2 Burton, a 5,000-ft wildcat targeting Bailey Lime (Lower Devonian) in Section 10. Nearby production is to the north in Waltonville Field.
