On Feb. 1, North Texans for Natural Gas, which supports oil and natural gas development, said it would expand its focus statewide and be called Texans for Natural Gas, and it now includes significant membership in the Permian Basin, South Texas, and along the Gulf Coast.
North Texans for Natural Gas began in 2014, and by the end of its first year had already amassed more than 100,000 members, and had more than 200,000 by the end of 2016. Cities including Midland, Texas; San Antonio; and Corpus Christi, Texas, represent some of the fastest growth, the organization said.
Members have made more than 1,000 comments on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s study of fracking and groundwater, and the campaign is currently running a petition pushing back on out-of-state environmental activists who want to block a pipeline in West Texas, the organization said.
The organization also noted that it has a new website.
