Description
A horizontal Niobrara/Mancos exploratory test in the Piceance Basin was announced by Denver-based Black Hills Exploration & Production Inc. The test is producing 8.5 MMcf of gas with 3.172 Mbbl of water per day. The #9-11CH Homer Deep Unit is in Section 9-8s-98w in Garfield County, Colo. It was horizontally drilled southeastward to 18,988 ft, 7,411 ft true vertical, and bottomed in Section 15-8s-98w of Mesa County. It was tested following 47-stage fracturing at 7,102-17,197 ft. On an unreported choke size, the flowing casing pressure was 1,703 psi.
