A Feb. 8 press release reported the incorporation of Synertia Energy, which provides asset evaluation for commercial, subsurface geoscience, and engineering technical integration, specifically for companies needing to outsource specific subsurface evaluations.

The company is based in Houston.

Synertia’s upstream consulting includes geoscience and engineering, including:

-Rock properties and petrophysical analysis;

-Quantitative geophysical analysis;

-Seismic interpretation and subsurface mapping;

-Geo-cellular model building;

-Petroleum system evaluation;

-Reservoir performance prediction and reservoir simulation;

-PTA and nodal analysis;

-Petroleum engineering; and

-Assists or prospects valuation.

Its asset management services include:

-Reservoir management, development and optimization;

-Subsurface and commercial risk and uncertainty management; and

-Development planning and asset optimization.

Its commercial A&D services include:

-Brokerage services for current and prospective clients;

-Commercial and technical asset evaluation for A&D;

-Identifying opportunities for clients and/or investors; and

-Capital raise.

Managing Director Dave DesAutels, who has 40 years of development and exploration experience, was managing director and CEO of Seregon Energy from 2011 to 2017. From 2008 to 2016, he was the director for development geoscience at Noble Energy Inc. (NYSE: NBL). From 2011 to 2015, he was president of Zavanna Canada Corp. From 2008 to 2008, he was the chief of production geoscience and the vice president of geoscience in Bogota, Colombia, for Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY).

Managing Director Sophia Cobos, a geoscientist professional, has more than 15 years’ experience in production, developments and exploration.

From 2013 to 2016, she was reservoir management lead and geoscientist for BP America (Gulf of Mexico). For BP Plc (NYSE: BP) from 2009 to 2012, she was geoscientist-reservoir management for Angola Region (Block 31). From 2006 to 2008, Cobos was geophysicist-reservoir management for Llanos Basin in Colombia, the press release said.

Cobos has also worked for Occidental of Elk Hills (California) and for Venezuela’s PDVSA in its new ventures group, the press release said.

David Baumgartner is Synertia’s business development director, the press release said. He is managing director of advisory firm Kerogen Ventures LLC, which he founded in 2016, and he has more than 30 years of global E&P experience.

Previously, he was director of business development for Noble Energy New Ventures LLC. Prior to that, Baumgartner was senior negotiator with Marathon Oil Co. (NYSE: MRO), and prior to Marathon, he held senior management positions in Russia with Sakhalin Energy, a joint venture of Shell, Mitsubishi, Marathon and Mitsui.
