The law firm Baker Hostetler said Sept. 11 that Laura J. McMahon joined its Houston office as a partner in the corporate and energy practices.

McMahon’s clients include the energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities sectors, the firm noted.

Most recently, McMahon co-chaired the Latin America Practice Group at Norton Rose Fulbright. She has more than 20 years’ experience in domestic and international capital markets, securities compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and midstream MLP and oilfield services joint ventures, Baker Hostetler said.

In the past six years, she facilitated more than $8.8 billion in combined gross proceeds in debt and equity offerings, and completed acquisition, disposition, and joint-venture transactions totaling more than $3.2 billion, the firm added.

“Laura’s breadth of experience, both domestically and internationally, adds more depth to our already strong capital markets and transactional capabilities,” said John Gherlein, chair of the firm's Business Group.

“Our clients will benefit from her industry expertise as well as her substantial experience in Latin America,” he added.

“Joining BakerHostetler is a unique opportunity. I hold this firm in high regard for its collaboration within the organization to benefit the firm’s clients,” said McMahon.

“I look forward to working with teams across the firm to achieve successful transactions for our clients here and outside the U.S.,” she added.

McMahon holds a law degree from University of Houston and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Illinois, the firm said.

She is a member of the International Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association, the firm added.

She is a founder and a member of the board of the Center for Women in Law at The University of Texas School of Law, the firm noted.
