Production casing has been set at a Macon County, Ill., exploratory test by Long Creek Energy LLC, southeast of a wildcat drilled by the company in 2015. Located in Section 23-16n-3e, #3 Rutherford was drilled to 3,240 ft with 5 1/2-in. casing set on bottom. The Illinois Basin venture was targeting Trenton. The 2015 completion, #1 Rutherford, in Section 23, was drilled to 2,869 ft in Edgewood, but completion data has been filed as confidential with state regulators. Nearby production is from Oakey Field, which is about three miles to the north. The field was opened in 1954 and its wells produce primarily from Devonian at around 2,300 ft. Long Creekâs headquarters are in Decatur, Ill.
