Dallas-based, privately held Kosmos Energy has approved Chris Tong's appointment to the company's board. Kosmos expects to finalize the appointment during first-quarter 2011. Tong will hold the position of chairman of the audit committee.
Tong has more than 30 years of oil and gas industry experience, including 10 years as an energy banker and 20 years in the upstream and midstream sectors. Previously, he was chief financial officer at various public companies for 12 years.
Tong held various management positions at Noble Energy Inc., including the roles of senior vice president and CFO from 2005 until his retirement in 2009. He was also SVP and CFO at Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. from 1997 to 2004.
Additionally, Tong has held several management positions at Tejas Gas Corp., a midstream natural gas company, and earlier worked as an energy banker at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Post Oak Bank and Bankers Trust Co.
Tong is a member of the boards of Targa Resources Corp. and Cloud Peak Energy Inc.
