Pioneer Natural Resources Co. completed an Eagle Ford shale horizontal well in Karnes County (RRC Dist. 2), Texas, that had an initial production rate of 19.9 million cu. ft. of gas equivalent per day. The Irking, Texas-based company's #1 Handy was tested on a 22/64-in. choke at approximately 6,300 psi and the liquids-rich gas contains 1,300 Btu per cu. ft. Drilled to 17,966 ft., approximately 13,100 ft. true vertical, the well was completed in a 4,400-ft. lateral section with a 12-stage fracture stimulation. The #1 Handy is on a 1,550-acre lease in Charles Martinez Survey, A-6. Pioneer's headquarters are in Irving, Texas.
