Petrohawk Energy Corp., Houston, (NYSE: HK) has found a new gas field in the Eagle Ford shale in La Salle County, Texas. The discovery well, the STS #241-1H, was drilled to 11,300 feet and placed on production at a rate of 9.1 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day—7.6 million cubic feet of gas and 250 barrels of condensate per day.

Petrohawk shares rose $1.19 to $16.19 in mid-afternoon trading today. The shares have traded between $8.49 and $54.49 over the past year.
