Halliburton Co. certified substantial compliance with the United States Department of Justice’s (DOJ) request for additional information (second request) regarding the merger with Baker Hughes Inc., the company said Aug. 2.
Baker Hughes certified the second request on July 14, Halliburton added. Each company had received requests in February under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976’s notification requirements.
Halliburton also confirmed that its Form CO, the standard notification form required for merger approval by the European Commission, was filed on July 23. The European Commission had requested additional information in a few areas, the company added. The formal review process will begin after the additional information is provided.
Halliburton aims to close the acquisition in late 2015, but it could be extended into 2016.
Halliburton Co. and Baker Hughes Inc. are both based in Houston.
