Ecopetrol SA (NYSE: EC) said Nov. 24 engineer Felipe Bayon Pardo has been named as the new executive vice president of the Columbian company.
Bayon was elected by the company's board of directors during its ordinary meeting on Nov. 20, according to the release.
In addition, the board elected Claudia Patricia Bastidas as corporate internal audit director.
Bayon has more than 24 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, the release said.
For the past 20 years, he has worked with BP Plc (NYSE: BP), most recently as the company's senior vice president of BP America and director of the Deep Water Response Group.
Bayon has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Los Andes.
Bastidas will be joining Ecopetrol on Dec. 1, and Bayon on Feb. 15.
