Marc L. Duncan became president and COO of Rangeford Resources Inc., the company said May 23.
From 2005 until February 2014, Duncan was president and COO of Contango Oil and Gas and its subsidiaries, which developed and monetized the Fayetteville Shale, Freeport LNG interest, and found and developed 1 trillion cubic feet of reserves in the Gulf of Mexico. At its peak, Contango’s market capitalization grew to $1.5 billion.
Currently, Duncan is the managing director of Four Horses LLC and Opal Petroleum Partners LLC. He is also the energy director and adviser for Cardinal Directions First Inc. and is on the board of advisers for EnergyFunders.
During Duncan’s tenure at Contango, the company received numerous awards and industry recognition. In 2007, Contango received Hart Energy's Best Discovery of the Year recognition through its Excellence Awards. Contango also ranked fourth in the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 Houston-based Public Companies of 2008 recognition.
Duncan has more than 35 years’ experience in the energy industry, holding several domestic and international management positions relating to natural gas and oil exploration.
Duncan also previously was president and COO for USENCO International Inc. from 2000 to 2004. He also worked for Hunt Oil Co., ENSERCH Corp., ARCO Oil and Gas and drilling contractor SEDCO.
Duncan earned a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas; a master’s of education degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas; and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Dallas.
Duncan has been an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 1981.
