Description
IHS Markit reported that Ventex Operating Corp. has staked a directional Smackover wildcat in a lightly developed part of southern Clarke County, Ala. The #1 Whitehead Trust 23-2 will be drilled to 14,800 ft in Section 23-6n-2e. The nearest previous drilling is within 2 miles to the southwest in Section 26. Pruet Production’s #1 Alco 26-6 was abandoned in 1979 at 13,731 ft in Norphlet. Smackover oil production in the one-well Perry Chapel Field is about 6.5 miles east of Ventex’s planned venture—the #2 Bedsole Foundation 24-11 was completed in 2011 flowing 172 bbl of crude, 84 Mcf of gas and 113 bbl of water per day through perforations at 14,040-14,346 ft. Ventex is based in Dallas.
