On May 7, Capgemini America Inc. acquired an upstream solutions provider. The Irving, Texas-based Strategic Systems & Products Corp. was acquired through a signed contract, Capgemini America said.

Capgemini America is part of the Paris-based Capgemini Group, which provides consulting, technology and outsourcing to many sectors.

Capgemini America got a 100% stake in Strategic Systems & Products Corp., the company added. The acquisition will strengthen the company’s position in the market, as well as its solutions portfolio, the company added.

“The North American oil and gas industry is experiencing significant growth due to advances in exploration and production technology,” said Rob McKay, senior vice president and leader of energy, utilities and chemicals for Capgemini North America.

McKay added, “Companies in this space need access to enterprise solutions that are quickly deployable, scalable, and that solve the specific needs of the energy industry. With the SSP acquisition, we are strengthening our capability and position as the market leader in systems integration in the North American oil and gas sector. This is a key step in our ongoing strategic expansion in this industry and reflects our ambition to grow and provide additional value-added services to our clients as we work with select technology partners.”

Strategic Systems & Products Corp. will operate under Capgemini’s brand, and its CEO, Carlos Martinez, will become vice president of Capgemini North America, the company added.

“The upstream oil and gas industry is poised for continued growth and by integrating our capabilities with a proven systems integrator like Capgemini, we’ll be in lockstep and fully aligned with our clients as they capitalize on the opportunities that lie ahead,” said Martinez.

He added, “We have built a strong relationship with Capgemini, having already partnered together in support of client initiatives in this market. We look forward to providing further value to our clients through the combined services and expertise we will be able to offer.”

The acquisition is scheduled to close “shortly,” Capgemini America said.
